Sure am glad I don't have emissions tests here, I would fail!

I have a total of two vacuum hoses and no computer!

On the bright side it runs like a champ!

I agree.  I bet they are cleaner without all that garbage, when tuned right.

I went to the DMV today, and got my new title and temporary tag, all in less than 10 minutes!!!  No waiting at all.  I now have 2 months to get my emissions test done in order to get my permanent plates.  My car is more than 31 years old, so it qualifies for collector plates, although I'll have to get an emissions test every 5 years.

I just went with collector plates this year.  The 5 years between emissions is much nicer than every year.

Are the emissions test as tough on old cars?

I believe they use the limits that were required when the car was new.  So its a lot more lenient than the standards they use today, but your car does have to be running properly.

I bet they could pass the test (which is based on the emissions standards from when the car was built) without all the extra emissions equipment.  Where they get you is the visual inspection.  Plus, we all know it is against federal law to remove emissions equipment from a vehicle   :-X

I spent a couple hours working on my coupe today.  i got the new wheels and tires installed, put on the headlight trim and clear turn signals, and the side marker lights.  I think the wheels look great, I just need to get the spacers in the back so I can put on the center caps.  Also there is one lug nut on each rear wheel that I can't get on.  I'm hoping the studs were just a little rusty or gummed up as there was no lug nut on them to begin with.  Hopefully a little oil will do the trick, otherwise I'll have to try to clean them up with a die.  Any other suggestions?

I also started it up today.  I don't think it had been run in over a week but it started right up.  I'm hoping to bring it home on Sunday!

The pictures I took didn't turn out all that great because of the shadows, but you get the idea.

Looking good! You'll be ready for the Golden Super Cruise.  :hyper: You're on the right track with the stud. You can try to wire brush them with a stiff wire brush or cordless drill with a wire brush.

I brought my new coupe home today!!!  It did great on the 30 mile ride home.  It rides much smoother than the Kammback, probably a combination of the longer wheel base and better suspension (?).  There was also less road noise, due to the fact I have car tires on it rather than SUV tires I've always used on the Kammback.  The engine runs extremely smooth, when I got home I popped the hood and it purrs like a kitten.  The one problem I discovered was that the heater fan wasn't working.  I tested out the A/C on Friday and I swore the fan worked, so I guess that's job #1.

Here are a couple pictures here at home.  The third picture is something under the hood, I'm guessing its emissions related but its just kind of laying on the valve cover.  I'm thinking it should be attached somewhere.  Does anyone with a 1980 know where this should reside?  Thanks.

That's the nonlinear vacuum regulator. Everyone I have seen is kind of just hanging around somewhere as well.

Congrats on the coupe by the way. Car looks super nice.
