Thanks!

One more pic I forgot to post previously, this is m favorite shot of the jeep so far. WOT, and the left front tire barely touching the ground, made for a good action shot, props to miss for catching it  8).

Little update, haven't done a whole lot to the jeep, but, I did manage to revamp my crappy old bumper (from the other kee) into something a little less offensive, and a bit more useful.

Starting with this rusty goofy looking thing I built back in 05 for my cherokee prior to the 97.

Added a little extra support.

Capped off the ends, lobbed off a big chunk of stinger.

Built a radius to replace my squared off stinger.

all welded up, ground, and mocked up to make the ends.

Ready for cleaning.

I forgot to mention a couple of my butcher jobs in order to get this goof ball bumper on this slightly mangled rig. When I got it, the passenger side rail was pushed back about two inches, my friend that I got it from, just welded the bumper on straight on the jeep, lol, hey it worked. It wasn't going to work for me though, so went ahead and straightened the mangle area. I got it to about 1 inch out, and it would go no further. Hated to do it, but out came the cut off wheel, cut the section out, straightened the surrounding area then straightened the cut out, and welded it back together.

I was then able to weld on my support plates (14ga steel) to help beef it up for recovery.

this was the mangled side.

By this time the bumper was ready for paint....Implement enamel low gloss black.

not before a little etch primer lol.

There it be painted up, drying for install.

All said and done, ready for torture, hahaha. It just had bath in this pic, kinda funny, I've washed this rig more in the few months I've driven it, than the 4 years I drove the other one,  :rotfl: .

Sweet XJ! You have a lot of work into it. My fiance's off road rig is a 89 xj pioneer on a 6.5" lift and 35"s. Good vehicles.

Always have enjoyed this thread. I've been following it from day one and I am impressed with the rig for sure. Makes me want to run out and buy a Cherokee! You can find them anywhere and high mile ones are under 2 grand. Gotta get my Eagle done first though or the wife will hurt me!

Thanks guys! It was a fun project, my friend that I got it from had way too many projects going (couple willys, couple comanches, rat rod, 51 pontiac, wrangler, and others, lol), he just didn't have the time to do it. I'm sure my gf would get pretty mad if I dragged home more projects like this, lol, so I have be carfeful on "what" follows me home,  :rotfl: .

Been a long while since I've updated this thread, really haven't done much to the rig except drive and wheel it, lol. I got a little bored last night though, the barn was warm, so I decided to pull the jeep in for a little experiment. As I may have mentioned before, the jeep has a vacuum actuated front axle for 2 and 4wd, my method of controlling that has been less than desirable.  Open the hood, uncap the actuator hoses, hook one to vacuum, get in jeep, go forward, the reverse so the collar can lock or unlock the axle, get out, cap the vac line not hooked to vacuum, unplug the line hooked to vacuum cap it off, then cap off the vacuum leak. The wheels were turining after successfully getting the red car's 4wd working properly, wondered if I could use the eagle switch to operate the jeeps front axle, I happen to have a parts eagle for some unknown reason  .

First had to figure out how and where to mount it.

Almost too easy, it almost seems like it was made to go there, no cutting, trimming, or drilling of any sort, the switch has a clamp retainer in the back of it. All I had to do was put a piece of sheet metal behind the bezel, tighten the screws, which clamped the sheetmetal to the bezel holding the switch firmly in place. The hole was already in the bezel, there was an inop dash clock taking up space, with removal of the clock (3 screws) it left a deep enough hole for the switch to sit in. There was a perfect gap between the cluster and the dash to run vacuum lines down through, along with a hole in the firewall in an almost too convenient place  .

There you have it, I hooked up the vacuum lines (wrong the first time of course), and it works perfectly. Now I just have to take it back apart and paint it to match the rest of the interior, hahaha.

For the past almost 5 years my jeep parts have found homes on eagles, it's about time an Eagle donated a part to the Jeep, lol.
