Ya know..mine doesnt have one identifying mark anywhere on it like yours does. It does however look exactly like yours. That writing almost looks it may have been a salvage/used part maybe....Everytime Ive bought used parts that were pre-pulled and inventoried had writing on them like that...just a guess though

Looks exactly like a junkyard part to me, and most likely, it is, though they sell new tc's for Eagles for about the same price that some yards would charge.

the junk yard thing is what i was thinking but i wanted to see what you guys thought. oh and i can say with all certainty that the trans has been pulled before as someone butchered one of the transmission lines and put a piece of rubber line in the section they removed.

You can compare it to the numbers in our parts catalog in the Eaglepedia.  Probably, as mentioned, its a wrecking yard inventory number.  AMC stamped their numbers on most parts.

Mine still has the metal ones. They are caked in oil and grime...along with everything else...so i dont know if they are good or bad yet. My radiator looked pretty tore up too, and where the tranny lines go into it it was pretty wet like its been leaking. I got alot of work ahead of me.

By the way I think mine is a junk yard tranny too...inside the bell housing there is big "3" written in yellow crayon.

thanks shanebo for the quick reply. now that's what i call an eggcellent response time. yeah i'm thinking the same for survivor as well because the same numbers that are on the torque converter are also on the top of the transmission under a fair amount of grease and grime which made it hard for my to see in the diminishing light that i took the pics in yesterday.

Hey Maddog, how did your tranny fluid look...Mine looked like the drain oil out of a diesel, It was thick and black with clumps of stuff in it...Plus it smelled really burnt...I dont hold out much hope for my tranny...Im pretty sure its as good as toast.

well considering it was in there for ten years it wasn't to good. it was dark smelled a little on the burnt side but there were no clumps in it and the magnet that was in the pan didn't have any big pieces of metal on it just the typical shavings from use.

Rebuild kits are less than 100 dollars, and from what I've been reading they're supposed to be pretty easy to rebuild on your own... would give you some good experience and be far cheaper than a shop...

also, the tranny lines just need new o-rings, you don't have to replace the radiator or the lines if they leak at the connections, just pop the hoses out, slide new o-rings on and pop them back in....
