yeah i agree pensoil is the worst oil you can possibly use in a car or any engien for that matter and i am going to use sea foam before i do the oil change. i'm using quakerstate in it right now but i plan on changing oils as it is made by the same company as pensoil. just trying to figure out which oil to use now.
i have been using quakerstate in just about everything i have ever owned and i have never seen the waxy build like pennzoil.  i never knew they where made by the same company

The mechanic who helped me install a new flex plate in my 86 swore it would never run again... and upon research in it and checking time frames, I KNOW mine sat for ATLEAST 5-6 years...

Its still amazing that mechanic, because he still cant believe it runs like it does  ;D I love these cars!
Its Always a work in progress, but its always working regardless...

I like Valvoline VR1 10w30, not as easy to find as 20w50, but it's out there, I found some at Napa, lol. Not to mention it hasn't been stripped of its ingredients, because it's aimed at race/performance engines  ;).

I purchased my Black Limited 84 Wagon with 241,600 miles.  No overhaul.  Everything documented.  I do not know what oil the previous owner used, but I put 10W30 AMSOIL PLUS a quart of Lucas Oil in the change and I have 40 to 45 PSI.  I'm surprised!!  LOT of guys out there say, Chrysler f*(ked up the AMC 258.  Not the same.  I LOVE my Eagles.  ALL oil is synthetic either Mobil or AMSOIL.  My 87 & my newest winter 84.

Ive had fairly good luck with that royal purple oil $10 a quart, only car it failed me with was my 2001 caddy but northstar engines are built to blow up, used it in my 2002 jeep also and it has 250,000kms on it and still runs good after rolling over!

well while looking at the rear hatch yesterday to try and figure out why it wobbled when i lifted it and found out that someone had tried lifting the hatch more than the hinges would allow and consequently bent in the metal under the hinges. does anyone know if it is repairable or should i just get a new hatch.

There are plenty of hatches out there.  I'd personally go for a new hatch.  rather than have one that is bent or twisted in a fashion where it won't seal properly or close the way it should.

well i got to thinking (never a good thing) today about what colors to paint survivor. and now not sure if i want to keep her the original colors or not. the new colors i have been thinking about doing are as follow; AMC blue on dark blue, AMC blue on black, or maple red on dark blue. decisions decisions.

Match the colors somewhat to the interior. So if you have nutmeg interior, dark brown trim or main coat, etc, looks good that way. Most vehicles are painted to match their interiors in some ways, and teh ones that don't tend to look a bit tacky.

my 2 cents are get it repainted the same color, that way you don't have to mess with the engine compartment or inside the doors
