that isn't off topic at all ;D  I am still new to the other AMC models, heck i have never even seen a concord in person.  My father has found a javelin that he wants to pick up and restore and i got word from a guy i work with about a guy whose father recently passed away and he inherited an AMC (model unknown) with 33,000 original miles.  I am waiting to have the gentleman contact me so that i can take a look and offer a price.  he was stoked that i own an AMC and am interested in his late father's pride and joy car.

The Mexican built AMC's showed a lot of creativity.  The Lerma is a good example how AMC was able to make so many variations from the same basic car.  The Hornet was very versatile and served AMC well.

May I suggest you visit the AMC Heritage Forums to learn a whole lot more about AMC and its predecessors.  The Heritage Forum is primarily education based rather than technical.  Of course, everyone is welcome to contribute to their knowledge base.   http://www.forum.route66rambler.com/

oh yeah, might as well as put an update in since i am doing work to it to keep it on the road.  My fuel milage is looking to be near 20 MPG stuck in 4 wheel drive.  oil consumption for today was a good 5 quarts to get to work and go to lunch, 4 quarts to get home.  We repaired 3 holes with JB weld last night and 2 more sprang up on the 3 mile journey to work (1 towards the bottom of the pan draining all the oil that was in it).  All day at work i was getting the friendly people telling me "your car has an oil leak"  after about the 5th person i just starting replying  "not leaking, marking it's territory".  So after work i drained the remaining oil in the pan, quite fast when you have 2 drain holes i must say :P.  I then sanded, wire brushed, sanded some more, applied acitone, and coated every single spot where i think there is going to be a leak with the remaining JB weld.  Again i know I should just bite the bullet and install the new pan, but i have this JB  weld here just screaming at me to be used.  Tomarrow is new wheel and tire day and just maybe i can get the car to calm down and keep it's oil

AMC vehicles watched out for their owners.  If one component failed to do its job other ones were known to step in.

That would be great Eagler!  I would not think there would be many still in existence.   I would like to share your pictures over at the AMC Heritage Forum too -- we do have a small VAM section there.  Of course you are welcome to go there and post them yourself.

Funny how many AMCs came with that option (or is it developed it?)

Hahaha!  That's great.  Bill don't jinx yourself talking about your valve cover like that.

True, lets not jinx the valve cover and then have other leaks develop.

Sounds like she pays attention to the Eagle.  My wife could care less about it.

she only pays attention to the money i throw at cars ;D  She has made it clear that she isn't going to drive it and she prefers she never rides in it.  I have a surprize in store for her though,  i will be picking her up from the hospital in nothing less than the eagle wagon.  My last 2 children have ridden in AMCs or AMC inspired SUVs from the hospital to home.  My daughter got the ride in my 86 cherokee and my son (youngest)rode home in my old 91 Grand Cherokee
