The astros were nice... my parents owned for awhile when I was a kiddo. Still... an ugly grocery getter though. What is it with you and grocery getters? LOL!
I mostly agree with the statement about how the vehicle is taken care of... but still there are some cars that are just junk fomr day one. Read anything about Toyota's recent fiasco? Exactly. That Blazer I had was the biggest POS I owned.... and I loved it probably more than a man should love a machine... well unless it's the chick machine in Terminator:3.... any man could love kind of machine, LOL! But that's not the point... I babied that truck... upgraded... dealt with all the tweaks... I guess I'm being more hard on it than I should. When I wrecked it, it was running fantastic with just over 100k on it. Maybe, I'm more hard on it because I miss driving a newer vehicle that was set up perfectly the way I wanted it. I mean... that truck and I had spent alot of time together. It was my first (and probably last) "new" vehicle. Still though... alot of issues with that thing from day one. The have horrible crappy intakes that blow out if your truck sits in the sun too long, lol! Ok... it's not that bad... but it's still pretty bad. That's just a junk-poor design flaw.... and they never fixed it! Take it to a dealership and the idiots will install another crappy cardboard gasket that will blow again! Duh!?
The same goes for my Dodge in that aspect... from what I've read... the Belly styled FI-318 Magnum has probably one of the worst intake gasket design flaws ever... this design flaw was carried from 92-07!?!?! WTF? See, that has nothing to do with how you take care of it... they just blow because they are crap junk designs.... and I expect that out of new vehicles... but to continue doing the same thing for over 10 years is a bit ridiculous, don't ya think?
Ok... rant off.
Sorry, lol! Obviously, not aimed toward you... just getting really upset right now because the tax money is gone - we spent more than we probably should have... and it's all on ths truck that popped up last minute... this "great deal" that cost me twice as much as planned... $250 to legally have it tagged...
$140 for new intake gaskets and new plenum repair kit....
$170 for distributor
$5.99 x 8 Bosch Platinum 4-prong plugs
$80 for all new fuel lines
$60 for an oxygen sensor
$85 for a Map sensor
plus several other things I can't remember... like wires, oil, filters, fluids, about 6 rolls of black electrical tape, thermostat & gasket, a full tank of gas that was burned up really fast because of how horrible she was running... by the way, that's 32g and she was dry... do the math! Oh yeah, and all the fluids? The expensive Castrol GTX High Milage performance stuff? All ruined because of the bad intake gasket... had to drain the coolant again too. It's one thing to buy a part... and another thing to buy the same stuff twice, like those fluids... and then the thermostat that I got the first time was tricking the truck into running too cold and too rich... so I had to buy another one. Get this... you have to remove the alternator to get to the thermostat housing... it's about 2 hour job! GRR!
So tonight... we install the new plenum kit and gaskets and the new oxygen sensor... if that doesn't fix it... then I'm going to finish the job the PO started... but this time I will just drop a match in the gas tank! LOL!
Ok.... NOW the rant is off... sorry, LOL! Needed to vent!
