If it were me I'd go stock! I know it will sound like a 80's radio but back then we all thought that was great!! But then again thats just me showing my age.Beside if you ever sell it one of the first questions you will be ask is,Do you have the stock radio. Either way enjoy ypur eagle its looking great!!!

I like that original radio and how it looks like. It sounds kinda "blurry", but that´s no issue...

But there are something against... Colors of plastic and "wood" are wrong. Black can be painted but how can I "stain" that "wood"? I have an extra consol from Concord... Is it possible to take "wood" out of it? Color is right.

And there is something positive... I could get rid of that broken rear window washer...

The wood can be carefully removed from both and replaced.  They are hard-backed appliques.

I believe if one used goo/gone and a plastic body filler spreader and some patiences it will come off! I personally have never taken the wood grain off but have seen one after it was done,so I know it will come off and it appeared to have only held on with some sticky stuff.Just take your time and I think you will be fine.

my advice would be to use a heat gun and get the wood warm to touch, then it should just come right off.  If you are thinking about keeping the orignial style radio I just purchased one from amazon.com that sounds great and has all of the modern stuff (usb input, aux jack, sd card reader) instead of a tape deck.  i am pretty sure they ship your way

Something has happened during last days...

As you can see I found defroster switch parts that were missing. And look how clean driverseat is. I bought leather cleaner can from a discount sale. And miracles happened. I got rid of all grease, oil and "normal" s..t. At first I used very expensive cleaner with average results. Now I´m gonna use that stuff to clean entire interior!

Ashtray is in citricacid because of heavy rust. And its plastic cover is cleaned with that leather cleaner. All ash and black grease is gone!



Here you can see how much better that low price cleaner worked.

Some Eagles had tilt columns, my wagon does.I would think the electrics would be a nightmare,turn signals,hazards etc. , but then again you have done miracles with what you have now allready.

I went tilt to nontilt with an 84. Not sure of the amc donor. But I had to redo the steering wheel mounts.  Meaning it was closer to the driver.

Not sure on the columns.  You would think AMC would have adapted their wiring to work with the GM column.  But I am not really sure.

I was to vague. Wires matched. My column was a concord of some year.

I don't know what you did with the carpet, but it looks factory.  Nice job.  btw, what color carpet did you order?   I think you have the same color interior as I do.

I just cut it to fit.

ACC box says it is Cutpile carpet and color is called Cognac. Finnish dealer had color samples and I liked that color. Next darker would have been the same as original. Cognac is little bit too light... compared to door and seat carpets.

Well that carpet looks awesome.  did you glue it down or something?  how did you get it to sit soo flat?  Nice, Have an egg.

Thx for the info.  I'll be replacing mine (hopefully soon) so that's what color I'll get.   I think we have the same color interior.

No glueing or nothing... There is just one "hump" under the driverseat and few "not so flat" spots. But I think that one hot summer day does some miracles... There are only 10 C degrees in my garage, no heating so far...

Today I started to change steering column. First I went to my parents house and pulled my "flying eagle" out of its garage with my fathers International tractor, so I had enough space to take steering column out. That took about an hour... Then I worked with packge tray... No tools, I did forget to take all I needed... That simple job did take almost an hour!!!
After that the main job was easy and simple job, 20 minutes.
And after all that Eagle back to garage. That was just a dream! Three of four wheels blocked!!! Rust in brakes. It was impossible to drive backwords. We pushed it with tractor, no results. So it is now in the middle of field... R.I.P.
