Ok, enough with the teasing...here is a HUGE hint as to what the woodgrain is for!
I'm currently striping all the crud and paint off of it. Do you think I should prime/paint before putting the vinyl on? My only worry is that I believe you are supposed to use water to help apply the vinyl and having water sitting on the bare metal just doesn't sound like a good idea.
Awhile back I was hoping to buy this set of turbine wheels for TQ and the guy ended up having a more local guy buy them prior to me making it to KC. They guy that bought them however did not want the spare or the center caps so Original seller sold me the spare with the 4 center caps for 20 bucks...a pretty good deal considering most sets of 4 that I've seen of these turbines are going from like 200-300 bucks even if the wheels aren't in great shape.
This wheel isn't in real good shape and while I had the wire wheel out I thought I'd see what it would do on the wheel. Looks like it would clean up real nicely if I went at it for a bit...still need 3 more wheels!
You can see along the outer edge and inner edge where I tried cleaning it up with the wire wheel. I also did the one spoke in the center of the pic. Should clean up pretty good. The hard part will be getting the spots between the spokes.
