Update:
In the past few weeks the tranny still runs but is getting worse (whinig) esp w/ no dipstick.looking into a total rebuild-stock.still shifts smooth though. The rear left wheel bearing destroyed itself last week but is now fixed. My mech. didn't tell me the part # however.
The left tie rod ( not sure inner or outer) is toast, new one coming from Buffalo,be here on friday and I'll get my leaky header gasket replaced.I attempted but stripped the 1st nut I attacked...It came with one of those felt/asbestos type gaskets, replacing it with a copper gasket. For a temp. fix I have the dreaded Hi temp. silicone junk smeared into the cracks. ::)She's been getting me through. But is in dire need of trans work.I have the # of the red wagon  nearby and its also an 87 ;D thats all for now.

Wheel bearing is an A6. Used on all kinds of stuff, even imports. And used as a front wheel bearing alot as well.

Edit: spelling

The A6 bearing is used in various places on garden tractors, and as wheel bearings in utility trailers, very easy to locate, most all parts stores have them, just make sure it is made in USA and not china.

well he managed to find the bearing, the seals were another matter but he said they were savable and no leaks, brought it in again and he re torqued the axle nut, didn't seem to want to torque properly that day,but everything seated itself and all is torqued to spec now  ...part # will go in my folder.I keep a folder for every car I have with all the receipts.Kid took the car the other day to pick up his mom (my g/f) left the stereo on and now... nothing, cranks and getting fuel but I think a wire smoked itself.Or maybe saltleaning more towards salt on a connection :( .But they got home)
I had taken the Dakota in that day to get checked out(kid had smacked a guard rail and ended up crunching the front drive shaft...1 week wait...no 4wd for now  and its a $400 part.So much for my deal with my mechanic,(I was tattooing him in trade for work on my Eagle babes and I feel they mooched in on my deal and used it all up on me) >:(.So now I'm back to square one, just when I thought I was getting somewhere....

I have had days, weeks, months, .....  like that.  They guy I had do my "i need a hoist for this work" recently went out of business.  Gambling and alcohol does not bode well for keeping your business going.  I wish I could afford to buy his garage and retire to it, but not right now.

Well I got the battery all charged ,new spark plugs.started up, drove around house 2x and parked it,now no start,it needs new spark plug wires and i have another starter relay standing by,fingers crossed it should only need the wires and nothing else, but snowing hard now...Its supposed to go in tomorrow for a left tie rod and a header gasket fix..But if  I can't  get it running ,no appointment.....EVERYBODY GETTING THE NEW HEADERS get a copper gasket Like "Percy's dead soft";those felt ones blow out and are a major PITA.Especially when you strip the 1st 2 nuts while attempting an "easy " replacment.I suppose I could break out the hack saw, :P nahhh
Also yesterday got an estimate for $1500 for a total rebuild of my 998 trans, from him pulling it out fixin' it and puttin' it back in ,'bout what I expected.

Yeah the 727 in my jav was 800 when i pulled it out myself back in 94?As i posted in the "good morning" thread I rolled my car  this past Thursday night trying to avoid a deer, shoulda shoved it outta my way in retrospect.
I brought it to a local guy who does Busch series race cars- alignments. He says the frame is bent and that the left front was 1.9 inches out of alignment. He did some tweaking of the strut rod  and tie rods and it runs almost straight ( slightly to the left) but Eagle babes now drives straighter than she ever has :P.I think tossing all that gunk around actually made my trans quieter,Thats not always a good thing though, but she did have a lot more power since the crash...really wish i had pix
22 years of having a license and  thats the 1st time I've tipped a car over, actually had it up on the side windows not on the doors. The light bar I believe saved me from going onto my roof.
Only damage besides the alignment was a small dent on my rear door and a broken universal mirror.AND I didn't get hurt either with all those tools hitting me from my passenger side floor "toolbox"    WOW did I luck out ::) Did I mention I LOVE ,my Eagle ;D

I almost forgot to mention .I got to watch the alignment being done with a(4) machine that hooks up to your tires and with strings attached to each other and display all info on a big screen(snap-on) so the Mechanic can see it from under the car.I never seen that done before ,very informative day.
