you can occasionally find the Marchals still attached to some Jeeps and some 80's Fords in junkyards/scrapyards. They are not always in the greatest shape.. but alot cheaper than at auction. Ford Mustangs used them also.

I just happened upon this thread and I gotta say that's one bad a$$ paint job I totally love it. Great looking Sx4 egg to you don't get rid of it and I know I may be a little late but I like the red tail lights it breaks up the paint perfectly.

I Don't know why. But everybody's always talking about their STI or That guys EVO, I think I'll stick with my old, but reliable AmC. Did I ever tell you I was Full blooded Eagle?

Well I finally started some more work on the sx/4. I got the new window rubber and sweeps installed and got the frame rails cleaned out and sealed and the undercoating sprayed under it.The new leaf springs are on there way here and I pulled the gas tank out so I could give it a good cleaning and seal it too. Its getting closer to being "on the road" lol its only been in the garage for three years .

Well I finally started some more work on the sx/4. I got the new window rubber and sweeps installed and got the frame rails cleaned out and sealed and the undercoating sprayed under it.

I wanted to clean out my frame rails but with them hard packed with mud and much of it with no access holes I didn't see a way to do it other than taking a cutoff wheel to the bottom portion, cleaning, and then re-welding.  How did you do it?

titus

My car has been in the heated garage so long there was no moister in the mud in the frame rails so it broke up easy. I took a hamer along the bottom edge and hit just to brake it loose. And since the bumpers were off I had acess to the open ends of the frame so I took a 4' piece of brake line bent it down through there with the air hose  hooked to one end to blow the crap around and help brake it up. Then I finally took the shop vac and connected a piece of 1/2" flexible conduit to it and stuck it down in to suck all the loose dirt out. Then I bought 4 cans of eastwood inner frame sealer and soked the inside with it. That stuff works really well although it was expensive 20$ a can . I think I will spray that waxy undercoating in there too just to give it a little more protection after killing all the rust.  I think I got most of the dirt out of there I'm sureit will last quit a while now.

My car's been in the garage for 3 years now, maybe that'll work for me, I'll ask the hubby about it.

Nice job on your SX/4! I'm going to take a few hints from you when I start my SX/4 project. Love the blacked out windows too. Very nice and clean look.
