Wow, you're very talented.  Did you paint the larger blacked out area and the pinstripe at the same time or did you mask one, paint it, then mask the other and paint it?  Did you sand down the black part before you applied the clear or did the clear go directly over the black?  The paint looked yellow prior to your wet sanding but looks orange after the wet sanding and the application of clear - why is that?

Shaping up Nicely!  I like the blacked hood bulge too!  Egg to ya.

The tube bumper end is a nice touch.  I might go more for that look with the ends flipped and the longer portion on top.

So it is possible to get a decent paint job in you own garage? These shows would have you believe you need to pay $3000 any way more for a decent paint job.

WOW!! Thanks every one for all the compliments . I have gotten a lot of help from all of you. This is the first car that I have attempted to paint , it seems to be going pretty good . Lots of lessons have been learned, hopefully I will be able to implement the lessons on more cars including the 1981 sx/4.

Excellent job!  Looks great.  I like the tubular bumper end cap, but something is not quite right with the transition from the stock bumper to the tube.  However having seen what you have already accomplished, I have no doubt you'll get it right.
yeah that was just tacked on to the old bumper brackets to see what it might look like.

I taped of every thing and painted all the black at the same time. The black is a base coat  so I cleared over it within the 24 hrs recommended to not have to sand.I had to touch up some of the yellow/orange too , so I put a good three coats over the whole car at the same time . As far as the colour it just depends on the lighting the first (yellow) pic was taken with the sun shinning at it , the second (orange) was taken with the door closed . It looks like that in person too not just in the pics. I can't wait to get it out on a sunny day and get some good pics. Then we can decide what colour it really is. :)

I still have a lot experimenting to do with the bumpers , but yours did cross my mind when I was bending up that end piece. Thanks

That's your first paint job? Wow man... you have a talent my friend. Not only on the quality, but the design. I always like highlighting thing the way you have with the pinstripe-like outline around the center of the hood and the rockers.

It looks good. Real good. You'd be on my "super" team of Car restoration guys if I ever got my own tv show or had a shop that made enough to afford paying everyone to move out here, lol! You are now on "the list" among about 4-5 other guys here on the nest.

When I become rich... I'm going to assemble the team and we're going to get together for a summer and totally restore one of every model of Eagle and put them in a Museum here in the states.... we may have to work on a few more and do some custom work as well...

*evil grins*

I want on also.  Put me on that list of 'considered'.  I would love to come down and help restore some Eagles.

Man, that clear sure makes a helluva difference doesn't it?

Very nice man. Very nice. I'm jealous... I have about 5 "total restoration projects" and not one of them is moving along very fast, LOL!

Well I found another 81 sx\4 (black) to donate seat belts and and a bunch of trim pieces.
I got the bottom of the hood done and mounted it and the wiper motor.
And I started it up and pulled it out of the garage today , it is running pretty rough but it
has not been run for a while so ill have to figure that out again .
I still have to raise the back to level it out , it looks goofy sittin there like this but it won't be long now.
