nice looking project so far.  Any chance you got more pics on the dash restore?  Maybe a dash recover "how to" could be made.  Thanks for sharing what you have so far look forward to more pics when you can.  Phill

Hi everyone. Working on this again. I decided to skip all the extra goodies for now and just get it on the road. Here are some pics after a week of block sanding, and I just cut in the door jambs last night. I would like to find new rubber to reassemble this with (doors, hatch, windows, etc.) Let me know if you have any suggestions on where to get these.

Looks good.  What's the process you're going to follow for spraying the rest of the car?  Sand down the overspray up to the edges of the engine compartment, door frames and so on, then mask off these areas and spray the exterior body?

Very nice!

You can find alot of those gaskets on the bay... and this guy has'em too.

Yes ,I sprayed my final coat of high build on and did not sand it yet (other then the jams) so I had material to work with when sanding the over spray down.
I am hanging the doors, hood and hatch and tapping off the jams then painting the whole outside at the same time . The only reason I am doing it this way is that I had a "professional" paint a truck once and he did it all apart and when it got put back together  there was different shades of green.

By the way I had a few sets of the ball joint spacers made different heights 1",1.5",and 2.5" but I don't think I will use them because the new springs sit so high ,and I took the fender flares off and welded all the holes shut .so I  have a lot of tire space now even with 235/75/15 .let me know if someone wants to buy a set.

here are a couple more pics after the paint. I set the lights in and I am trying to decide if I want to black out that area by the tail lights like stock was, and I am thinking about painting the center part of the hood and a stripe down the sides black . Let me know if anyone has suggestions.

Wonder how it'd look if you took the indentation along the top of the door & along the front fender & then did the spoiler in black?

I think the 2 tone hood would work well, like a "masked" 70 AMX , and the center of the tail lights blacked out.Hmmmm not too keen on a stripe down the side......just my opinion, and you asked  ;D. Allthough I did consider a different color for my rear spoiler and carrying it down the sides to a point , but it didn't look right taped off , and I couldn't get it to blend in with any reference lines....good l;uck, it looks great, that scoop is cool!

I blacked out the area around my tail lights.  Maybe I have a picture somewhere.  OK, here is one.  The body color was lighter than it is now.  But you get the general idea.

Here is another one, not the the greatest shot

I like the black out look as well... the tone, will look really nice. just don't do too much black.

Looking at Doug's pictures... I think it'd look cooler if the black stooped at the edge inside the trim line.... so basically it's surrounded by the base yellow. That'd look really cool.

My intent was to paint the center of the hood black as well... and I was going to take it back down the entire car.

As for a stripe on the side... I'd say no... a black pinstripe along the indented line down the ar would do wonders in making it all stand out. It all also really depends on if you're putting the trim back on or not.

Just my two cents! Spend it wisely!

I see what you are saying about 'blacked out' rear area around the tail lights, but I'm wondering if black would be too dark and too much of a contrast?  I guess it would look ok with a black bumper... I'm not sure, I can't visualize it.  I guess if you're going for a kind of "two-tone" with some of the trim black, black bumpers, and rockers, it should look pretty good...  But it's your car...

I actually like the all yellow (sunshine orange) whatever color it is.   Very nice color.

Regardless of what you do with 'her' keep posting pics.  I love following these resto's.

Thanks for sharing with us.
