Not sure what black stuff you're referring to, but to remove the interior undercoating stuff use a sharp paint scraper, or if its really tough what I've used is a sharpened wood chisel and a hammer - use a shallow angle so you don't gouge the metal.  I see some oily/greasy stuff in one picture, might be able to get that up with a solvent and a rag or maybe even use gasoline on it (be careful about fire! always have an extinguisher handy).  Or if its on the undercoating it will come up when you scrape the undercoating off.  The paint scrapers get dull fairly quickly, but one style has replaceable blades and even those and the non-replaceable blade ones can be sharpened on a grinder if you have one.  That's my preferred method because its cheaper than buying replacement blades or scrapers and a lot faster than taking a break to drive to the store.  After you've scraped the worst of the undercoating off remove the remainders and any paint with an air sander and/or sand blaster to get a surface you can recoat or patch with metal as need be.  Any spots of undercoating where the metal is solid and the undercoating as well I leave as is unless you need a couple of inches of perimeter for a metal patch.  No need to make extra work for yourself.

That oily stuff is an asphalt compound they use to seal between overlapping body panels.   Since a lot of panels are only spot-welded into place, there is warpage a lot of times between the spot welds, and that stuff helps keep it weather tight and reduce noise.

Yes, repairable
but I can't afford to fix that right now. Can't get her into the vo tech body shop since school is over in 2 months
Will have to try for next year
I would do it myself, but I know nothing about this, and the gas tank is right there
the pictures don't show the damage to its full extent, most of the rear floor pan needs replacing

I know this is a pretty dead topic. As some know this car recently went for sale and  as of about 15 minutes ago I paid off the balance owed and I now own this car.  Getting it back on the road is going on number 1 priority as soon as it arrives home.

I would like to keep this thread alive with the progress of the car because this car has history on the site (former eagle of the month winner april 2007) and there is no way i can take that away from the car.

Stay tuned for updates, write ups, and pictures

I got in over my head with this car and I'm glad she's going to somebody who can do what I can't.

83Eagle!

Bill, I am glad you are keeping this topic alive.  It shows history of the Kammback.  I like that.  Eagle Kammback I think you should keep your screen name.  That is what everyone knows you as.

Bill, can't wait to see what you do with it.  I am glad it went to a good home.
