New to Eagle 83 SX4 in SE MI
« on: October 02, 2012, 11:23:57 AM »

Just wanted to make a post to introduce myself and say hello, My name is Jeston, Sheldon from Blissfield MI (south of Detroit north of Toledo), 25years old and a Machinist by trade. I have always been a 4cyl Turbo guy having grown up in the Fast and Furious days. I have built up several Dodge neons over the years. A currently have a black coupe that I race in the Street FWD Class best of 10.2  car makes 650hp at 32lbs of boost.

So the eagle seem like a big departure for my norm however I have been interested in the SX4 ever since seeing them in my dads 4x4 magazines when I was a kid.  They seen to be very scarce in this area. So when I seen one poped up on Craigs List in Detroit I had to have it. When I say Detroit I mean right down in the thick of it, 3 blocks off of 8 mile road to be exact.
The eagle sat under a carport next to a brick home owned by a very small old Gentleman. This guy was the coolest old man I have ever met in my life. He had worked Chrysler doing artwork for adds and manuals in the 70's and 80's and had bought the Eagle brand new in 1983 in Detroit.  The car is in excellent shape for being in MI for the last almost 30 years. No rust to speak of and the paint even still shines, it had been very well taken care of to say the least. I stayed until dark talking Cars and History with the old man. He even invited me in his house to see the art work he had done.  Truly  Amazing stuff He had some paintings that he had done during the Detroit Riots that would  blow you away.   He teared up handing me the keys, he told me the car was his old friend and that I needed to take good car of it for him. I never in a million years would have thought I would find a Car or a Man like that in sure a rough place
I drove away with a new car, and a cool story to tell.

Gorgeous Eagle and awesome story. When does it get a turbo?  >:D

are those the stock mirrors on my car?
Can you post a close up shot of the mirrors?

Those are Cherokee rims.
They look like aftermarket wheels. I don't recall any Cherokee having those exact wheels.

Oh, at first look I thought they were the Cherokee Ecco wheels.

88000miles

The car does needs door hinge bushings drivers side, lift struts for the hatch and the front seats re covered. but that all seems fairly normal wear and tear

Every time someone on here posts up a great find like this I'm just sure it has to be the last one out there...and then another one shows up.  I have to find me one of these.

Great find, congrats.  Hope you enjoy it...but let me know if you decide to sell. ;D

Now that I got another look at this thing I saw it at the AMC Show up in MI a couple months ago. If I remember correctly the guy was asking 3500 and from far away it looked like a really nice car, but up close it did have quite a few things that needed attention. I hope you were able to talk him down a bit on his price. The low mileage is a plus.

I have this picture of the old man who I briefly talked to. He said he had the car since day one. His wife had bought it for him! :)
