Ok, since no one has stepped up quite yet to take the reigns on the Cordova Meet... I can't resist waiting any longer, lol! I know it's over a year away, but one thing I've learned since the 2009 Meet was that you can never start planning too early.

Anyways, this years (2010) event will be on September 11th at the Cordova Race way... and by "event" I simpy mean the AMC races and swap meet will be held on this day. The EN is not affiliated with this event. The 2010 EN Meet is being held in a different state. You can get all the info for that event by clicking the link... http://forums.amceaglenest.com/index.php?board=139.0

The thing is... by then, the ENS (Eagle Nest Sanctuary) will be fully operational and I'd like to have a meet there so that people can see the place and also have access to tools and parts for a cool clinic.

The cool part is that Cordova is only an hour away from the Eagle Nest Sanctuary... so I smell a yearly event if this all works out as planned.

And guess what... I'm going to run my hot rod SX4... muahahahahaha!

Thoughts?

Here is the Cordova website... http://cordovadrag.com/index.html I checked mapquest from my house. It's just at an hour away and it's a straight shot just near the Quad Cities.
I cannot believe that all these last few years that I have wanted to go so and missed it because I thought it was several hours away.... this is perfect man! I thought this area sucked... but man... I've got a great Mopar shop here that is known world round for it's performance parts and it's an hour away. The big AMC aftermarket shop is an hour away... Cordova is an hour away. It's awesome.

I think that is a good idea Mav.  Between the sanctuary and Cordova, your location may become the place to be every September.

Hey without sounding selfish just because it's my place... because if it were another Nester's I'd feel the same way... but I think you're right man. Making an annual even out of that could prove to be very very cool!

Here's a refresher thread.... at the 2010 Meet in Nebraska, there has been some discussion on where to hold the 2011 Meet. I have already started making preparations for the 2011 Meet at the Sanctuary but there is alot of interest in meeting at Cordova... here is waht has been posted elsewhere.

Please, discuss....

So if we want to add our pics or Vids, do we send them to you Brandon?

Do well, Amigos!  Can't wait fro the 2011 Eagle invasion of the All AMC Drag Day in Cordova next year!

Jesse

We made it home as well... the girls and I made lots of stops for fun. I met up with Meping and her dad about 9:30 and we decided to hit up Cracker Barrel for breakfast... but there was a 20m wait - then we ran into HawkenEagle and his wife and decided to go to a "ma and pa" truck stop and had breakfast there. Afterwards, I did a quick CB radio install for Meping in her car and the girls and I shoved off about 1pm.

Glad everyone had fun. Already trying to figure out details for next year... we already started a thread for a Meet at the Sanctuary for 2011, but Jerry is pretty adament on setting something up around Cordova. Doug and I talked about doing both, but I think Cordova is a few hours from me and it's hard enough getting people to one place... cant imagine doing one place and then heading to the other the next day. The good news is we have 11mo to work on it, lol!

For those of you with video of the thing we did just before we went out to eat... please don't post it just yet. If you can email it to me - that would be great. Send me a PM if you need directions on how to email it. I still have video from the first two years ready to go, but haven't been able to afford the right editing software... anyways, I spent alot of money on the way to the meet for a new HD camera and HD editing software. I'm really looking forward to working on this... last year, we didn't get the title sequence filmed... the first year, it didn't turn out right - but I think this year, it was just right. I just don't have the video yet - so email it to me asap! :P

And if you'd like your photos added to the DVD - please email them to me at [email protected] the best way (same with video) is to put everything in a folder.... zip/compress it and then email it.

Had a blast guys... sorry I showed up late. I did a few extra things to the car before I left and then ran into unexpected problems when I finally left. Glad everyone liked the shirts although I forgot to grab one for myself, LOL!

Girls loved it and won't stop talking about it! Thanks Brandon!

Mav,

The Eagle's Nest will have a great time at next year's Cordova Meet.   I have already made an arrangement with Jock (National American Drvier's and Racer's Association President).  What's great about it is that it is one of the largest gatherings of AMC's in the country every year.  Not only that, there are already many activities revolving around AMC's.

It would give you the opportunity to meet AMC'r's from all around the country.  The swap meet has established AMC Vendors and the rest of us, of course.  The opportuniity to see a 7 second Gremlin, a 12 second Wagoneer, and AMC's of every era blazing down the drag strip!  It really is quite a great time.

The one AMC that is underrepresented is Eagles.  In all my years attending I have only seen two!

I normally show up on Th night.  A bunch of us gather at the sponsor Hotel.  The Hotels are all in Le Claire, IA, just across the River from Cordova, IL.  I am always at the Holiday Inn Express while the bulk of attendees stay across the road at the Daus and Comfort Inn... there are special rates for attendees.

There is a fire pit and lot's of conversation from old friends.  On Friday, there is test and tune at the dragstrip and plenty of fun.  The Swap meet gets going and we all enjoy the races and hang out.  (I have commited to race a late AMX next year along with some other friends from St Louis who are fixing up cheap drag machines as well, so no Eagle for me there... probably bring an 80 AMX with a 401 setup to hit the strip!)  I am hoping to find a place for some light wheeling for Friday during the daytime.

Saturday is the AMC "Gambler's Race", swap meet all day and other makes start showing up in the afternoon.  There is an all day car show and the awards are given out at the evening.  We generally break into groups and have dinners in Davenport, some go to casinos, but everyone has a fond farewell and heads out Sunday Morning.

I will send the event Flyer as soon as it is available and start a thread.

Cordova sounds neat, but I'm not really a drag race fan - I like the cars to a point, but can't handle the noise for too long. Would I be wrong in assuming there could be something else planned for those (like me) that don't want to go to a drag meet? Or shall I just skip out on next year's Nest meet? :P

I am sure there will be more than just racing.  Its a great chance, from what I hear, for AMC'ers to get together aside from the racing.

Cordova sounds good to me.

Mick, I like the action shots of us all driving to Aztecca.  Those are nicely done.  Glad you and the kids made it home safely.

Yeah that one of you is killer!

Cordova could be a blast!

Glad to be home safe too, thanks.

Great pics guys... I wish I could have spent more time with everyone - was really looking forward to hanging out more on Sunday, but we will have next year.

We do need to figure out something about this Cordova thing... I don't want to be stingy and say "Hey i already called next year to hang out at the sanctuary!" and sound like an @ss.... but, Hey! I already called next year so everyone can visit the Sanctuary. I've put alot of time into this place already in preparation for the Meet and I've set some things in motion already... not to say that it can't be changed, I mean it's not a huge deal... just saying because I'd still like to host it here. With that being said... I've always wanted to do a Cordova Meet... I said that last year but no one was interested in making the drive to Galesburg and then back to Cordova, which makes sense because there wasn't much incentive to do both and I have more connections here... now, with the Sanctuary I think we have more reason to be here than last year... so, I think we need to figure something out pretty soon before I make too many more plans here, lol... I mean, I'm cool if it's moved and I'm DEFFINITELY ok with having someone join me in setting it all up - but we need to work out some details asap.

So, for this... I'm going to move everything to the 2011 board for discussion and a possible vote. I actually started the thread months ago... Follow the link below... if you visit it in the next hour - come back again later, I'm doing some work on it. Let's leave this thread for discussions on this years meet and keep everything for 2011 at the lin below. Thanks guys!

I am not a big fan of Drag Racing either.  Regardless, the real fun in Cordova for me is the people.  Additionally, there are all kinds of great ideas there for AMC's to glean new projects from, including venodrs that fabricate parts for AMC Engines.  I have probably only watched 3 hours total of teh actual drag races in the last 6 years of going, but enjoy it nonetheless!

I throw down 45-50K miles per year, so starting in the "Sanctuary" and maybe going to Cordova for the big events Fri and /or Sat is acceptable, but to some who have already travveled so far, I don't know if the extra driving will make it worth either one.

Let the votoing begin!  I am going to post up some pics from this weekend and from Cordova.

Either way you cut it, it will be great haning with you guys again somewhere!

Yeah, I don't thin an hour drive will hurt anything... I mean, it's all interstate and it will fly by fast with a convoy of Eagles. I think we can pull off both. Plan the weekend at the Sanctuary as originally planned, but pick the best day for Cordova. I'm not too excited about drag racing but I have wanted to go for years and as you said, I could care less if we watch the drag racing or just check out all the cool AMC rides. That's all that matters to me.

I think if people drive 1000m to get here and hang for the weekend, then a 55m convoy ride isn't going to bother them. I say we do both. Besides, I have connections here for cheaper lodging, plus people can camp out here. Best of both worlds.

For those coming up from the South it will be directly opposite of the direction for going back home,
so that makes it 110.8 miles.
However, we could do that.
An Eagle convoy would be fun, provided we didn't have to keep up with Mick!
Navy standard for convoys in war time:
The speed of the convoy shall be the fastest speed of the slowest vessel.
Maybe we could modify that and use it for Eagle convoys.

Jim, that was well said.

I voted.  Mav are you going to have the RV spots done at the sanctuary by then?  Or at least the electrical posts for the RV spots done by then?  If so may I bring the camper?

Did I send you the pictures I took of the set up at Nikki's family farm?  Can't remember.

Forgive my ignorance, Mavericke, but where exactly is your sanctuary?  Is there more info about it around here somewhere?  It sounds like something I would like to see, but I'd need more info before making an official vote.  Thanks
