Hello from Colorado
« on: May 03, 2018, 12:19:02 PM »
Hi everyone.

Now that I found my activation email in my spam filter (and fixed that), I'm now able to log in.

I don't have an Eagle yet but I've wanted one for a while.  I'm working the beginnings of a plan for a build project.  Because, of course, I can never leave a vehicle stock.

I'm coming over from the Jeep side of things so I'm familiar with the AMC vehicles.  My rock crawler is a JK, and I have an XJ Cherokee.  I am currently down to just one Full Size Jeep, my 86 J10 pickup with a 401 and a 700R4 riding on J20 axles.  I've had over half a dozen full size Wagoneers and Cherokees in the past as well as an old CJ7 but they are all gone now.

While I'm going to keep the details of my build ideas to myself for a little bit, I will be digging around the forum to find answers for the questions I have, mostly so I'm not the guy who asks questions that have been answered a dozen times already.  Though anyone who has experience with the 700R4/4L60E or even 6L80E in an Eagle, I'm sure I'd like to know who you are so I can pick your brain.

I had a 4L60E in my Eagle that had the 5.3L. I didn't install it, but want questions do you want to ask? There were no transmission hump modifications, if I recall. My buddy Bob is installing a 5.3L/4L60E combo in his Eagle, I can ask him whatever questions you may have.

Biggest question was how much clearance there was around the transmission.  The 6L80 is a little bit wider than the 4L60.  While it would be great to have the 6 gears with a wider spread, the 4L60 is still more than adequate for what I'll be doing.  Knowing how much room there is to work with will let me make it easier on myself before I ever get started.  I don't want to have to deal with trying to fit 10 pounds of stuff in a 5 pound bag (i.e. tunnel mods) if I don't have to.

Welcome to the Den!  Great to have another member from Colorado, there are still a few of us left here.  I live in Centennial.  We use to have some informal get togethers at the local Sonics but its been awhile since we've done that.  Good luck on finding yourself a good Eagle, I think there are still lots of good ones available!
