I figured I would start up a thread on the 82 sedan project.   Not much done so far.   Got the glass in and rebuild the carb so she will start up and run now.   Theres some burning oil issues to address, but hopefully some new gaskets and steppin up to some 40 weight oil will correct that.

I was initially shocked when my local safelite had the windshield in stock.   but when they guy arrived to set it in it looked like it must have been the oldest windshield in their warehouse, all covered in dust.   lol.  Luckily I was able to sweet talk the guy into setting the back glass in while he was there at no cost.     I do have a moral debate to deal with on this car though,  should i paint all the flares and plastics back the original burnt orange or 2-tone the care with a dark brown or black.   decisions decisions.   Its already not going to be original via the vinyl top delete (which I am glad of, I hate vinyl tops)

Looks great.  I love the color.  I think the two-tone would look good.  Most new cars seem to be all one color and sort of monotonous.  Nice work on the Carter.

It's nice to see the vinyl off the top. rust get's under there over the years. Looks fantastic!! I just replaced my windshield 2 weeks ago with Safelite. They had it in stock. i've had 3 windshields installed on my Eagles with them.

That is a awesome sedan, it looks so much better with no vinyl,  I know you bought the car painted but was there anything special to removing it or like body filer added to cover mounting for the vinyl?

Im going to assume the trim holes for the trim were welded up pre paint.   as old as the paint is I see no shrinking around where the holed would have been so thats a good sign.   There is one spot on the edge of the roof where the paint lifted that I am going to have to repaint (luckily Im an old Wyotech grad and spent 10 years painting cars at a cadillac dealership)    Ive been seriously considering satin black for the lower trim and bumpers and doing the top of the power bulge in satin black as well.   think it would look good like that with a nice roof rack.   out of curiosity does anybody off hand about the widest tire i can run on these factory wheels without having to butcher up some flares and whatnot?

I think you're generally safe with 215/70 tires on stock rims.  I think some folks have gone to 225 width and not had to do any trimming if their suspension is good.  If its a little weak, they've gotten away with some minor trimming of the flares, and also moving the fender braces at the front of the wheel wells.

Looking good, nice to see another sedan.

You know I had never in my life seen an eagle sedan until I saw this one, I do like the oddity of it.   Anyway we have decided to pull the engine and rebuild it.   There was alot of grime and gunk on top of the head when we pulled the valve cover to change the gasket (and of course that :censored: plastic valve cover was all cracked to heck).    I will keep you guys posted on the progress.    Too bad I live in so cal and have to abide with emissions standards or I would have a little fun rebuilding this engine.
