Up until now I have been Lurking in the shadows and reading all of the write-ups and I have to say this is one of the most dedicated and organized forums I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of!

So far I have two 1981 SX4's, one with serious body rot (doubt she will ever see legal driving ever again, and the other with a blown motor thats gonna be shipped soon. I'll attach what i have for pics now.
Once the other one arrives im hoping that i can get a 4.0 HO in there but i only have the one from 1994 with the auto ECU. The game plan is the most reliable Eagle possible.

thanks again guys!

I completed a full 4.0 swap into a eagle (wagon), donor was a 1994 Cherokee, so pretty well the same as yours. If you're keeping the transmission / 4x4 stock and only doing the engine it should be a fairly straight forward swap. Take fairly pretty loosely ;)

If you have any questions ask! These boards are hands down the best enthusiast boards for any vehicle. No bickering like babies, people are polite, and there are actually smart people here.

Enjoy the Den :)

You got Prafeston! But i think that picture is from when he got it!  Nightpath if you dont mind me picking at you quickly here, I'm reading up on the swap and everyone is taking about *banging* in the #1 tube for the exhaust manifold, im wondering if I just bought a "shorty" style header if that might remedy the problem? I've been going through the forum for a few days with no luck.

thanks again

Welcome to the Den and congratulations on your acquisitions.  I'm looking forward to reading about your progress on getting one of them back on the road.

I did a 4.0L head swap which presents the same exhaust problems as the 4.0 engine swap.  The guys that did the work for me heated up the exhaust manifold and bent it to get the necessary clearance.  Seemed to work pretty well.

Welcome to the den. I keep seing this thread with your user name and it catches my eye. Very close digits to my user name do that to me.  :rotfl:

Anyway i made 2 stroker eagles, one is a split at the collector for true dual exaust. The other IIRC is a renix kee manifold bought off ebay that has expansion joints to eliminte cracking. Anyway it fit with no beating on the manifold. So i guess it depends on who makes the manifold. Cause if i did not cut the collector off the dual, i would have had alot of problems.

Welcome. It's actually fairly easy to make one reliable. Mine's carbed and I have many trouble free miles.

Thanks again guys! Glad to be part of such a helpful group of people!

@eaglefreek: Im seeing that more and more with my red one , dubbed "nickel beater" but we are having a very mild spring here and i need it to be reliable in conditions that sometimes reach -40c with windchill.
