I need Parts Recommendations for Lifted 1984 Sport Wagon
« on: October 21, 2014, 11:33:12 PM »
Hello All,

Just made a 1000 mile trip after buying her 4 days ago in FL.  Took the wagon to Mechanic to get it on a lift.

Please help with Recommendations for the following parts I need to replace.  I rather put better quality parts and have it last.  Please specify Manufacturer and Part Number if you know it and any associated parts I might need to replace.

I need
- Inner Tie Rod
- Outer Tie Rod
- Pitman Arm
- Idler Arm
- Steering Gear Box

Thanks

JB

Hit up Rockauto for a 1 and done deal for all those parts. Easy to pull up and they have it all for cheap.

For the steering box I'd pull one from a Grand Cherokee or a Durango for better steering. Or was that a Cherokee to pull from...either way it's an upgrade.

I've been getting all the front end parts for my 83 Eagle. This is what I've gotten, all MOOG Brand parts and Part Numbers directly from the MOOG Catalog

Part                                                QTY  Part Number
Outer Tie Rod Ends                   2       ES2106RL  (MOOG)
Inner Tie Rod Ends                    2       ES2107RL  (MOOG)
Upper Ball Joint                          2       K3082  (MOOG)
Lower Ball Joint                          2       K3153   (MOOG)
Lower Control Arm Bushings  2        K3113  (MOOG)
Upper Control Arm Bushings  2        K3096   (MOOG)
Control Arm Bumper                 2        K3180   (MOOG)
Sway Bar Endlinks                    2        K3124  (MOOG)
Sway Bar Frame Bushings     1         K3110  (MOOG)
Strut Rod Bushings                  1         K3090  (MOOG)
Inner Tie Rod Ends                   2        ES2107RL  (MOOG)
Adjusting Sleeves                      2        ES2032S  (MOOG)
Idler Arm                                      1        K3109 (MOOG) - Still need to order
Pitman Arm                                 1        K3055 (MOOG) - Still need to order

Rock Auto parts can be inexpensive but shipping kills you through them. I've been comparing prices between Amazon, Advance Auto and a few other sites. Sometimes Amazon is cheaper, sometimes Advance Auto is (they always have coupon codes that really help) My last order was for all 4 tie rod ends, and upper and lower control arm bushings. Advance Auto had best price after coupon for $185.00 total shipped (free shipping) Same parts through Amazon were over $300.00 after shipping was added.

As for steering, search the Den for replacing your steering box with the one from the 93-98 Grand Cherokee. Hope this helps

I got my idler on Ebay or Amazon for $35 delivered. Genuine Moog part.

Does anyone know a good alternative for the Moog pitman arm or where to find one?  I ordered everything and I received a call saying its out of stock.  I can't find one anywhere.

Eaglefreek, Thanks but wrong part.  I need a Moog Pitman Arm K3055.

I've looked on ebay and Amazon, but no luck.  Anyone have an link for a reputable Auto Parts store with it in stock.

Does anyone know if Rare Parts Inc. are good parts.  I read somewhere they buy the tooling from Moog on discontinued parts.
If that's true, I don't know.

Rockauto lists a MEVOTECH Part # MK3055 part for the eagle. When you go into the info for the part, it gives an alternate part number of K3055. I suspect its a re-boxed MOOG part. Only two left though.

Sorry, I somehow missed the pitman arm part.  ???  Mevotech are import parts. I would say go with the Raybestos Professional Grade, but they may also may be imports also, but hopefully better quality.

Mevotech uses the same part numbers as Moog and other better part companies.

Never mind Guys.  I found the Moog Pitman Arm.

I'm just waiting on the Grand Cherokee steering box and I can fix the steering.

Thanks

Check the pitman angle to the Grand Cherokee one.
