Chrome strip on the leading edge of the hood.

The chrome strip I salvaged from the kammback it pretty pitted along the center horizontal center portion.  Will sanding take them out?  I am repainting it black so I do not care about the chrome itself.

We are blacking out all the crome stuff on the SX4

I sanded it down and used a wire wheel on my bench grinder to get the more "stubborn" lumps to flatten out a bit. If you have some deep pits a drop of body filler (the kind in a tube) works great too

It was really bad when we started, looks like a brand new piece now

I also really like the krylon paints for stuff like this (their better stuff not the cheap ones), it seems to go on better and last longer, but my opinion

BTW, SEM makes a great paint for this kind of work; called Trim Black.    I use it a lot.   Seems to be the perfect sheen, and is very durable.
