New AMC car for me
« on: April 13, 2014, 06:17:48 PM »
Howdy all just thought I would drop a line and let everybody know I stumbled upon my new summer project.  I picked up a nice 1980 Spirit AMX  with A/C and a 4 speed.  All factory decals are still in good shape,  even the hood chicken lol.  Bumper end caps and spoiler are all there too.  Bought from the original owner for the amazing price of 800 bucks.  Has a problem with 3rd gear,  so I will look to swap in a 5 speed instead.  Looks to me to be an all original survivor.  Interior is mint minus the broken hood release cable.  More to follow in the project cars thread when I get the ball rolling on this one.

I will start a new thread in the Spirit/Concord section with as I go along pictures.  As of today, the AMX made it home safely and is now resting along side it's AMC family.  I spent some time researching this car and from what I've read it seems pretty rare around my parts.  I've only seen them online.  It's a keeper for sure.  I saw somewhere on here a member who sells the rear marker lens?  I have one missing.  And also how do I tell if the tranny is a T-4 or SR-4?  Thanks all for your help and support.  Because of this place and the way my Eagles turned out,  I can't wait to get this project started.  It should be a show winner by the time I'm done with it.

Those cars are rare in all parts of the country, not just where you are.  There is one down the street from me here in So. Cal, but I have not seen too many others anywhere.  It looks like you have a great car to work with, and we all will be watching closely at your progress.
