It pays to have an Eagle eye
« on: February 06, 2014, 05:18:35 PM »
I was talking to a neighbor the other day. He used to drive this Eagle. He bought it new. I hadn't seen it on the road in over a decade. I thought it was long gone. We used to talk about our mutual appreciation for AMCs when he lived closer to me.  As it turns he's had it all this time, but now it was in his way and he wanted it gone. I asked how much. He said "whatever you offer me. You are the only guy besides me I would want to own it". I told him as much as I like the car, I wasn't in the market for one and couldn't justify shelling out for something I didn't really need. He said, "it's not about the money". He wanted it gone and wanted me to make an offer if I had the slightest inkling to do so. I looked in my wallet and said, "hows $300.00?" He reached out and shook my hand.

I went home and grabbed a battery and a can of gas. Ten minutes later it was sitting here in my driveway.  Kind of sweet eh?

Now to get down to some serious detailing.

It looks really nice though. Love that gold color. Much better color combo for the Eagle. I'm not a huge fan of the white/tan they made so many of.

Great story and congratulations on your newest Eagle.  I especially like the part that the previous owner knew his car would be in good hands with you.  Take good care of it!

Yeah, and since you got it so cheap, you could justify selling me those rims too, right?

Nice! Love the story.
What year is it?
Don't see many that color at all. I think that might be the original color that my '82 SX/4 came out with: Topaz Gold Poly/Dark Brown poly (2H-OM). Does your's have that same code?

Great Score.  Another AMC saved because the seller wanted a good home for it more than money.
