HONEYBADGER!!!
« on: February 02, 2014, 07:13:26 PM »
alot of you may know me, and honeybadger. thought id introduce honeybadger for those who dont know it yet. so here it goes.

82 sx4. paid an entire $125 for it back in sept '09. it was in VERY rough shape, but savable. being it has always been here in eastern oregon, there is no rust in the car. (i LOVE living in the desert for that reason)

started out with replacing clutch hydraulics, carpet, headliner, drivers seat (still need something better, the '03 gc 10 way power seat is to tall) entire brake system, and all fluids flushed. took about 2 months, but drove it all winter.

over the years, it got a the gauge package modified to hold off the shelf mechanical gauges, and good sound system, and ford f-series tach to replace the junk amc tach.

mechanically it got a 4.0 head first. then the 2.73 axles got ditched for 3.08 gears front and rear. lifted 2" and fitted with 215/75/15 toyo open country a/t tires. then the 129 t-case exploded, so it got a 229 t-case. then when the 258 finally took a dump it got a 4.0 dropped in it. i had the GRONK 2150 carb kit on it from day one. that stayed with the 4.0. i just scored a t5 to replace the t4 trans. that will get done this spring. i drive the car almost every day. getting mid 20's on mpg with it. theres so much more stuff thats been done, i cant even begin to remember it. but the car gets USED!

stance difference between the stock sx4 i had for a while, and honeybadger.

honeybadgers 50 mile ride to town to get exhaust fabbed up for 4.0 head

hauling the horse 45 miles to go for a christmas day ride.

working hard here. over 300 heavy duty T post fence posts and other junk when moving mom and dad. trailer weighed atleast as much as the car. the air shocks in the rear were aired up all the way. slow ride the 10 miles or so.

4.0 almost finished installed with complete smogectomy.

drag car and honeybadger parked together. for some reason, the height difference doesnt look here as drastic as it really is.

youngkyle, be VERY careful if you try to do that. you need to have really good trailer brakes first. 2nd, in stock form, i dont know that the 258 will do it very well. would work the snot outta it i think. i live in wide open country, at the bottom of all the mountains. only reason i did that, was i had not much other way to do it at the time. but i needed to get honeybadger fixed. i wouldnt recommend it to anyone who hasnt had a trailer behind them most of their life.

All I was thinking was around 5-7 miles, but I don't think I'd do it anyway.  I have a Blazer and a Escape to my disposal.  I would fear breaking my eagle to much.

Welcome (again) Casper. Always love seeing the Honeybadger!
Jealous of the Badger not sagging a bit unless under HEAVY load.
A (couple of) Coors & Keystones always gets the job done.
As most should know, Honeybadger don't give a $*!#

the wife and i went for a drive up the canyon 2 miles away from the house today. we were pushing snow up the canyon for a good long ways. we went about 8 miles up, and decided to turn around as it was getting deep in places. was a real nice drive, and the $700 in tires proved FLAWLESS in getting traction. you can see the snow on the grill where i was pushing, and never spun a tire!

Honeybadger looks awesome as always casper. I just wish we had gotten a bout a foot or so more snow here rather than the three or four inches we actually got.

Is this a stock color?  I really like it, and I can't really find any other pictures with one yellow.
