I'm keeping the T5. Had to buy a T5 adapter so it will mate to the 4.0 engine.

I thought the 4.0 would have the same bell housing pattern as a 4.2, or did Chrysler change the bell housing at one point in time?

The bellhousing is fine. I think. It's the crankshaft in the 4.0 that doesn't match up. I think that's the case. Cost was only like 30 bucks for the pilot bushing to mate the T5 to the 4.0 crank shaft.

I thought AX4 refered to the factory manual transmission and you said you sold that.

AW4. The 4.0 I bought came with an AW4 Auto trans and NP231 TC. I sold the AW4. My car came with a T5 and it's staying. Sorry for the confusion.

I prefer the second picture.  The extra blackout is really nice.  I need to refresh the black striping on my lenses when I do the repaint.

Every time I see that color combo, I think of Dave's (vangremlin) Kammback.  I absolutely love that color combo.  The 4 door sedan I have will get the same color treatment (if I ever get around to it!).  I will be using semi-flat black, sometimes called satin black.  If I was really ambitious (and had the $), I would get the flare trim anodized black.  However, I doubt that it would be worth the cost for 8 pieces of molding (I would do 2 sets).  I think a good Scotch-Brite scuffing and a coat of semi-flat black may have to do.   Dave got his bumpers powder coated, but I am not sure if they offer a semi-flat or satin for powder coating.  If so, that would be the way to go for the bumpers and the flare trim.....Rich

OE sport bumpers were coated with something as they black just does not wear off.  I suppose they had to use something different that would adhere to the aluminum bumpers better.

The 4.0 stickshifts use a different pilot bushing but the crankshaft itself is compatible. The lip is a little different, but the new bushing will work on the 4.2L and the old one will work on the 4.0.

Did you use the 4.2 flywheel? The 4.0 flywheel is thinner and the starter ring is different.

Decided to go a different route for my fog lights. Also helping another nester out by selling him my NOS fogs I was going to use. I hope these yellow fogs will look pretty cool on my Cooper car. I think they will. The covers are weird. Held on by a rubber band pretty much. The cats eyes on the covers have holes so if you have the lights on with the covers on the eyes will light up yellow. Pretty neat! The cat on the fog light itself is like a gold color rather than the black found on the chrome/black 750/759s. I think I like the black cat better, but the gold seems to go well with the yellow too. So I'll live with it.

Looks like a plan to me.  Make sure and take some pictures when it is done.

You know me. I love pics! There certainly will be some! I did notice the lights just have one wire coming out of them and no stock plug on the end. I might canniblize the rusty pair that were on my car when I bought it. We'll see what it takes to get them wired correctly.
