Well, after spending more on fluid and gaskets than it cost for a trans pan, I finally broke down and got a new one!   No more leaks!   Who'd have thought it?   And I used a cork gasket instead of the rubber/synthetic ones that seem to squeeze out.   Now my ride is waiting in the unheated garage to take me anywhere I want when the snow falls. 
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean everyone's  NOT out to get you! :amc:

I was going to order it online from a chrysler/jeep site  (for the 929 transmission) but it was cheaper at the local dealer.
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean everyone's  NOT out to get you! :amc:

It is the same pan and will fit? What should I ask them for?

If you call a dealer, they will only need the VIN.  Assuming it's the original tranny.  Mine was the 929 transmission.  :amc:

Really??!! Chrysler can look up an AMC VIN? Interesting....I'll have to call. I work for a good sized dealer group, and we have a Chrysler store so I can get a discount through work.

Never heard of a 929? 904, 909 and 42RE ('93 Grand Cherokee with 4.0L) share the same pan
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

There was a link posted recently to a very sharp looking upgrade. The picture was the bottom of someone's Eagle, so it has been checked out to fit. It has a thicker edge to prevent the typical hole distortion and it also had a built in drain plug. It was around $150 if I remember right. I won't buy the crappy stock one when something that nice is readily available.

Do you remember where and when that was posted? I would be very interested. I think I definitely have to replace mine...I've put two gaskets on it since I've owned it.

Thanks Capt. I think I am going to do this after the valve cover, for sure. I just want to clean everything up after the valve cover so I can actually see where stuff is leaking from. Thanks!!
