Getting a T5
« on: April 17, 2013, 06:10:47 PM »
Found a fairly local listing for a NWC T-5. No tag  but casting seems to indicate a non jeep build. It was behind a V6 which was not a Jeep or AMC. Information seems to indicate still usable if not a WC?

Is it a 4x4 transmission? If so, it probably came from a Chevy S10 and I don't have any experience with getting it to bolt up to an AMC.

My gut tells me the GM has a different input stick out length and spline count.  I cant back that up with a source though. I will keep looking and get a quote one the T5 I have

found it

GM WC About this time GM entered the WC T-5 with the S-10 and Camaro T-5. Borg Warner produced both a 2x4 and 4x4 T-5 for the S-10 with different gear ratios depending on motor type. The 4x4 model was connected directly to the tranfer case with a short main shaft and tail shaft housing. GM used the T-5 in both the V6 and V8 Camaro’s, but the gear ratios were different, as well as, the bellhousing to transmission bolt pattern. The V8 Camaro received the same bolt pattern as earlier four speeds but with a 22 degree rotation to place the shifter closer to the driver. It is believed that GM changed the bolt pattern of the V6 T-5 so that it couldn’t be installed behind V8 motors. From looking at the outside of a Camaro T-5 it is difficult to tell them apart. GM used the WC T-5 2.95 gear set only in 92-93 IROC Z Camaro’s. In 1994 GM switched to the new T-56.

May not work with your bell housing.

Thanks for the feedback. That maybe why the one casting says not associated with any use.  1352-066 an 1352-065. The 66 number was on the shifter case.

I stand corrected. I think the transmission here locally is not going to be a safe bet. Mach1Mustang351 has a transmission that we are looking at shipping cost on. Send me a PM with what you want for it and I'll consider if shipping is too expensive.
