Hello from WV
« on: March 04, 2013, 06:02:29 PM »
Been without a eagle for years and finally brought one home the other day, and back on here researching. I'm gonna go alittle crazy with this one, I've been doing alot of H.O 4.0 swaps and I think that's gonna be my first part of the build. It's a 83 with 83,000 miles and looks pretty solid except for the rockers and rust under the vinal top.

Thanks everyone, I'm in Elizabeth WV which is a few miles south of Parkersburg. The interior is blue and the original exterior color was silver/gray. By what I can tell so far the eagle has the same Saginaw column as the early H.O xj's so the plug ins for ignition should plug right in. The hole in the firewall for the harness is the same size and place as is the fuse panel. So by using a 80's ford external electric fuel pump on the unibody rail it shouldn't be all that bad. Now tieing the dash switches and gauges into that harness is a totally different story... :occasion14:

I'll second that.  I really want to do a 4.0 swap on my eagle, and I'm not a Mechanic - like many here, so Step-by-step would be very, very helpful.

and Welcome to the nest.

The motor I'll be using is a 4.5 stroker out of my wifes mud/sand racer. I built her a new 4.6 stroker for this season, she won 14 races last year with this xj, it started out a 88 model renix and I swapped it over to a OBD2 96 model harness so I could get better computer mods.
