84 Wagon Fix up - ITS ALIVE!!!
« on: January 08, 2013, 02:02:19 PM »
I have an 84 Limited Wagon, have had it about 10 years, used to be my daily driver. Overall pretty good shape, interior is leather and OK, ran pretty decent

But about three years ago it went into the shop when I discovered front frame rail rot, was causing noise and alignment issues in the front end, so it went into the shop, and got kinda forgotten......Got a new job, other projects, home remodeling etc, you know how it goes time flies when you are busy

SO here it is now, and here is frame rot places

Removed engine to make repairs, 166K miles

So, here is pics of my friend who had a machine shop and is a welder dude, and repairs, might be a little overkill but its WAY stronger now than is was 29 years ago!

So, now to coat all that well, install rebuilt engine, upgrade ignition and carb set up, reassemble, try to remember where all the bolts go, re coat the underside, alignment, and new tires and many other things and maybe back on the road sometime this spring I hope!!

Also fixed my seats and all new shocks and some new front end peices, someday (and many dollars) it will be a new car!!

thanks for you intrest

I think so, the deal on the 4.0 didn't pan out  :(

So I'm back to making the engine I have as good as it can be I suppose, I don't really race or rock crawl in this one anyway!

I am going to do the carb and ignition upgrades and ditch all the miles of hoses and wires

There is such a ton of knowledge on this site, it's great to find out how everything worked for everyone else BEFORE I try it myself

I'm just super excited to have the frame fixed finally !

TOday I installed the new half shafts and took care of a couple little items here and there

It used to be dark brown, had it painted about 4 years ago

Many years ago I saw a frost white eagle wagon and in thought it was one of then nicest looking cars I had ever seen, never could find a white one for sale, so I bought this brown one ten years ago, and then made it look like the one I remembered.

Thanks for the compliments, I have learned so much from all of you and this site, replaced the half shafts today and it was so easy even though I had put it off for years because I thought it was hard. But because of reading all of your posts it was a snap!

Still wanna get some cherokee wheels, but it's good to have it back on the road again for sure

Always rewarding to bring a big project together after a long time, many hours, and lots of effort.  Looking good.  Congratulations.
