I have had good luck tinting taillights and corner lights on newer cars in the past.  Thought I would give it a try with the 86.  I used VHT nightshade paint and wetsanded followed by clearcoat to protect and make touchups easy.  I know this probably isnt everyones taste, but I was very happy with the look and just the right amount of tint that it barely detracts any light.
You can see I masked the lines with paint first and masked off the reverse light to still get full output at night from them.

I don't remember if anyone has asked you about the brushguard. Do you know what it's original application was? Your tail lenses look great, what did you use to black out the chrome around the plastic lense?

The brushguard is a Cherokee application.  Not sure what the original mounts were like, but I just have tabs on it that bolt to the bottom of the bumper and then pull from the back of the top side of the bumper. I can throw up some more pics if anyone would like.
For the lenses, I used 2 grits of steel wool and a couple layers of paint on the chrome area.  Time will tell how it holds up!

thank you for the information, yes I'd love to see more pictures of the brushguard mounts. I have a Blazer guard on my daughter's Eagle and am not very pleased with the fit. I want something to look better on mine, like the way yours does.
