Frame Fabrication
« on: November 22, 2012, 07:00:51 PM »
I've seen where some front frames have been made for solid axle swaps and wondered what that costs and inf anyone had done one still had a pattern/jig for it..
EL Matador says mine is rough so maybe a better idea to fabricate a replacement..

Rich's fixture is used to make a frame to do a solid axle swap and it still uses the front factory subframe to bolt to it. So I don't think that will be of any help to you.

Yes, the fixture is used for making an added subframe for a solid axle.  The fixture utilizes the mounting points for the trans crossmember, engine crossmember, and front bumper bracket mounts. If all these mounting points are intact, it would not matter the condition of the rest of the factory unibody.  I would add a photo of the subframe I made, but I am having problems with posting photos from my photobucket.

Well I made some calls today and may of found an awesome solution.. I can get a Sub-frame for $75 from a place that has it in a Warehouse.. I can clean it, prep it, and install things to it and basically build a new front end I think if I need to.

If I get this front sub-frame how hard will it be to get it installed? Think my local body shop can get installed? I don't have the tools for that kind of work..
