What do you mean by "plug"?  What was the problem?

did not go smoothly. big mess up thanks to the por 15 top coat I used. luckily it's not in an area that will be visible after the fenders are back on.

What was the mess up?  Adhesion?  Texture?

Good thread by the way.  My wife has an '84 wagon the same color as yours.

I used regular por 15 then either black coat or royal blue flex coat to top coat.

It was the flex coat that caused a problem. The primer we used, House of Kolor KDA3000, had a bad reaction with it. Within a few minutes of the primer being sprayed a few sections just peeled off and it was as if the flex coat never cured. Kept having to wipe up what I could and spray more primer.

The flex coat had a month to cure and was sanded before we primed, it was probably just an issue of compatibility of the products.

POR-15 has a primer for it, so you can paint other paints over it.  it's on their website.

But you can't just use any primer, or put any paint over it.

Love the 1/2 paint booth.  Reminds me of some of those pics you see on the internet of a car sticking half way into/out of a building.  Nicely done.  Prime example of making due with the space you have.  Keep up the good work.  And keep the pictures coming.  I can read ;D but like pictures. :rotfl:

eh go figure. I gotta a little more por-15 to do I'm sure so I'll look into that.
It's been a learning experience. Had no problems painting over the por-15 itself or their plain black top coat.
