hatch leaking

Okay I need a sanity check. I has water leaking into the cargo area on my wagon. I replaced the hatch seal and still leaking, though not as bad.  Doesn't appear to be coming through the hinge either . Any other ideas or do we think I botched the seal install??

I'm getting water in my cargo area in my Ford Festiva and I thought it was my hatch seal or rear window...though I do think it was the window a little bit I've noticed recently it is actually my taillights. The gasket for them were dry rotted and also one of the lenses was cracked...so I was taking in water in both places.

Well team I may have caught it. I opened the hatch when the snow melted this afternoon and the bulb portion of the top of the hatch seal was wet. I suspect it isn't compressing enough to seal. The seal I got wasn't an exact match so I was a bit Leary of it. Oh well. I guess I get to try again.

I had a similar problem with my car because the hatch seal was old and really compressed.  I went to Home Depot and bought some adhesive foam weather stripping normally use to seal your front door.  It comes in white & black and is on a roll.  I applied this to the hatch side under the seal.  It has been dry for 2+ years now.

I pullled the weatherstripping off a early 90's chrysler mini-van (from around the hatch). fit fine..was a little hard to close til I got it compressed...had to trim about a foot and a half off it...working great though

Good info on the Chrysler van. The one I got just doesn't seem to be cutting it. Hopefully my window and door seals work out better

Use the closed cell foam rubber strips. Not the spongey kind.

Several years ago someone posted on the forum that the seal from a Talon hatch would work.  My wife and I devoted a little money and a lot of work in the heat in a wrecking yard to prove it ain't so.
