Got a center console in my eagle
« on: July 14, 2012, 04:06:17 PM »
Since my eagle has the bench seats, there was no place to install a center console like I saw in some other posts. So I got a mini console with some screw holes in the bottom, got a thin piece of wood, attached them with some 5" bolts, and slid it in. It needed some help getting in but now that it is in it is firmly secured in place.  :)

Here are some pictures of what I did.

Nice solution.  Sometimes the simplest solution is best.  I just may go and copy you today.

Just make sure those bolts and that cupholder don't damage those beautiful seats. You might want to put some fuel line on the bolts to keep the threads from chafing the seats.

What Eaglefreek said...and maybe put some carpet on the wood.

Thank you for the suggestions. The current setup is really just temporary until I perfect the design. I don't want those seats damaged either, they're probably the nicest seats you will ever find in a Jersey eagle.  :)

Yes they seem to be in fantastic shape. Not trying to be a jerk by correcting you, but those are bucket seats, not bench seats. They are just extra wide. `

Thanks, I knew that. I just wasn't sure if I should call them bench or bucket seats because they are not bench seats but they have no space in between them.

On my wagon I have a similar cup holder, but I'm cutting out the bin to fit it under the shifter cover.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

Just wrapped the wood with some black tape and plan on surrounding the bolts with some aquarium hose.

Well actually it has been parked since January while I do a mechanical restoration on it. I have however sat in it with it in and it doesn't seem like it will be any problem.
