Mrs. BaldEagle
« on: July 05, 2012, 04:34:05 PM »
BaldEagle told me a few weeks ago that I should join, so after thinking about it I decided it would be fun.

So I'll introduce myself, my name is Pam. I've loved Eagles since the 80's but never had one until we bought our brown one in January. I only got to drive it for 2 months before it was totaled - but it was a terrific car and my wonderful husband got it running amazingly well partly thanks to this forum!

It was funny driving it some days. I'd get stares, I finally got the "OMG IS THAT AN EAGLE!?!" stare down pat. Occasionally someone would honk at me at a stop light and tell me about so~n~so's Eagle that was a wonderful car and would never ever get stuck in ANYTHING. The funniest reaction I got though was at a grocery store. There was a woman that must've been around 30, I hadn't noticed her at first so I'm not sure if she dropped her grocery bag because she saw the car, or if it was coincidental. I noticed she was gathering her groceries up off the ground and staring at the car at the same time. It didn't dawn on me that she was staring at the car (the car was still pretty new to me at the time as were the reactions to it), so being the kind of person I am - I proceeded to stare back at her until she noticed there was someone actually IN the car. When she saw me staring back at her she mouthed very exaggeratedly "NICE CAR", I said thank you!

After our Eagle was totaled I took a Saturday and called about 100 car lots in the Portland metro area to see if they had an Eagle hiding under a bush in the back lot somewhere that was waiting to go home with someone. Those phone calls involved a lot of laughter from the dealer, the laughter was usually followed up with, why do you want an Eagle I have a <insert modern 4 wheel drive/all wheel drive vehicle here> and I would say no, I only want an Eagle. Several phone calls ended in my explaining what the heck an AMC Eagle was (those were sad). And I had a couple of phone calls that mentioned how much they wished they had an Eagle on the lot and one gentleman that had sold cars for 30 years and had Eagles on his lot that were new in the 80's and he loved them.

So here I am.

Welcome.....Good luck finding another eagle, I am sure there is something worth while in our "Amc vehicles for sale" thread
I Don't know why. But everybody's always talking about their STI or That guys EVO, I think I'll stick with my old, but reliable AmC. Did I ever tell you I was Full blooded Eagle?

If you are looking for an Eagle I have a 1983 Sport...Station Wagon...that is in extremely nice condition.  Replaced the engine with a 258 from a Jeep that had been restored...it runs excellent and drives excellent.  It has nearly all the options including the load leveler. It is red and black.  I live in Spokane.

Welcome. Great story. Sad when they don't know what AMC is.

Ahhh yes, and now more to peruse over! Wish we had the money and the property to have several...but right now it's only one we can purchase. I'd have to talk you pretty far down to be able to afford the trip to Arkansas!

Yes, we bought Casper's red SX4 over the weekend!!!
Build thread to come soon, once we get the nice camera out............no more crummy cell pics, at least in the build. We also found a few parts needed for it from an '81 Spirit JY find.  ;D
This will eventually become my car, once we find another nice limited for the Mrs.

It looks like a search for a limited is over...Apparently we're on our way to starting a flock! Hopefully someday the wagon and SX4 will procreate and give us a sedan, a coupe and possibly if we're really lucky a Kammback  ;D

just in case your still looking... that station wagon i have here is geting fixed back up. it will be for sale real soon.... its got a power driver seat, real nice interior, faded paint. it will be getting GRONK's 2150 kit on it also. its a great car. not a limited, but close. only 2x,xxx miles on it....  :blob1:

im glad you guys seem to be happy with that car. i was sad to see it go, but happy it went to someone who has time to fix it up like it should be!!!
Casper you're awful! I'm not sure if I'd want to make that drive again to buy a car! At least not during this heat spell.
