if i put a front axle with 3.07 gears in and have 2.35 in back will it mess anything up even if i'm not i 4wd?

Yes, IIRC, they have to be the same gear ratio.

As long as you're in 2wd (you have a 129 or 128) you'll be fine. I'd leave the front drive shaft out until I got them matched just to avoid accidental damage.

A 129 is basically the same as a 229.

One minor thing. You need the passenger's side axle hanger to go from vacuum to non-vacuum (or vice versa) because it's a different length.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

I have both here. Axle sits on an angle if you don't.
