Doing the bearings in the Eagle and need to know which tools and sizes are needed?
I am seeing 6 point sockets and 6 point star sockets. Haven't tore into the car yet and from what pics I have seen they look to be 6 points star sockets, is that correct?
Also, what size(s) will i be needing?

Are we talking the front, back, or both?

IIRC, the axle nut on the front.... might be a 1 3/8's ??  it's been a year, and I'm not 100% sure.  But something like that.  Use single hex sockets if you can.

To take off the CV joints, you can use like allen key 6 side wrenches.  I don't think they are like torx bits.  At least mine weren't.  I don't remember the size.  (3/8's??)

You'll also need an extension (or a long breaker bar) to get those axle nuts off, and a pry bar to keep everything from spinning (or someone holding the brakes).  The 6 (or 8) hex bolts that hold the CV joint to the front half shaft are usually not as bad.

That's all I know.  And it's pretty slim at best.

They look like star sockets to me.
Went to a few stores in town to find some of these sockets. Wasn't sure as to what size(s) I was going to need. But everywhere we went didn't have much to chose from, so ended up with a set of E6-E16.
Hope one of these work.

I believe they are called external Torx. I used a 12 point wrench, after heating the bolts with a torch to soften the thread locker.

The wheel bearings require star sockets and a drive thin enough to wrench them off without anything getting in the way(it's aggravating). I believe the CV-axles require 8mm allen keys. The brakes themselves require a 7mm allen key. Good luck ever finding one. :-X

Looks like you have them cleaned off good, so that's a great start so the socket fits on good and square.
I don't remember the size either , but I know I broke a cheap socket first try, and went and got a better set after that.
Looks like you have done a great job on redoing what you have.

E-12 I think. I'll try to remember to check if I go to my wagon tomorrow. (trying to do too much at one time and I still tire easily)
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

I think I used a 12 point socket also.  I worked on it over at my friend's garage, and it was something that was only semi out of the ordinary.
