I happen to be the lucky owner of one of the 2,378 AMC Eagle 2 door sedans made in 1981.

I purchased it from a guy in northern New Hampshire. It sat in a barn for 12 years.

71,000 miles
2.5L 151 Iron Duke 4 Cylinder
4 speed manual transmission

Work I've done to it so far:

New spark plugs and spark plug wires
New master cylinder
4 new 205/75/R15 General Grabber AT2 tires
New rearview mirror (pulled from a Jeep Cherokee :P)
Alignment
New carburetor and electric choke (previously had a manual choke)
New external fuel filter
New radiator hose
Had to replace the center cap of the passenger front hub cap
About halfway done replacing the vacuum lines

Pictures:

Day I bought it

Before I put on the new tires

The Eagle towers over my Toyota (in back of it)

I need to replace the AMC badge on the back.

Having access to a lift is always nice

Anyway, that's my Eagle. More pictures and work logs to come. :)

Congrats on the Coupe! Looks to be in pretty decent shape and you are on the right track at replacing some of the key items to keep it road worthy!

Yes, a rare bird indeed.
Dido.

Not bad for sitting for so long either.  Still looks pretty good.  Congrats on your find.

Thanks for the kind words. :) I didn't realize it was rare...

It's always funny to see the reactions of people... especially since I'm only 19. Most people my age are driving primer painted Civics with body kits. :P

I was at a restaurant about a month ago and when I came out a guy was looking at it. He said, "wow, I was not expecting a young kid to be driving this."

Yeah, something about the sedans makes it even seem more weird for a younger kid to be driving. That vinyl tops just screams grandparents! :)

My Eagle is 2 years older than me so I've gotten some strange looks too. I love coming out of some place and having someone just oogling over my car and then they strike up some convo about how they used to have one or their parents used to have one or they didn't know any of those things were still on the road! :)

I wouldn't mind having a an older Civic Hatchback or CRX. They get great gas mileage and seem to last forever. I'd want an unmolested one with not stupid body kits.

Well, today I made a trip to the shooting range in the Eagle. To get there, you have to go through a lot of mud... I had no problem.  ;D

Maybe it's a generation thing, but I still think the two doors have more style. They may not be as convenient to get people or things in and out of, but when I'm 4 wheeling I am uaually alone or have only one passenger. anyway, that is one fine looking auto. congatulations and happy motoring.

Prafeston

Good to see some Eagles at play! What's with the vinyl top on the passenger rear?

It was torn when I bought it. :(

It's on my list to fix... That, and the bumper corners.
