To get the transfer case you need a couple good jacks and a good set of sockets and wrenches. It is a project for sure but totally doable. I think i remember reading that the new starters will chew up your flywheel if you don't swap the gear over from the old one, the teeth are cut at a slightly different angle, I would go pull the starter off that 81 in the yard. Replacing a flywheel is a big job. Having custom leaf springs made is expensive, I think all you need to do is go find an 80's cherokee pull the leaf springs off of it then swap out the bushings. get some spacers for the front. If you try to lift it two inches in the front you will max out your half shafts. But remember an Eagles lower center of gravity gives it a big advantage over most 4x4 rigs. I think 31 inch tires is plenty big, I run 28.5s on my Eagle. I have the fender flares and the old carter carb off your rig. Ever get the back hatch open? I am with you on the plastic trim, just more to lose on the trail.
A BIG piece of advice---- before you let any body mechanic or not work on your eagle do the research hear on the nest !!!! I recommend doing the work yourself, if you feel confident. All of the info is hear on the nest ask a question and it will be answered by seasoned Eagle mechanics! Here is a shot of my motor with the motorcraft 2150 carb and other mods. I recommend you get in touch with GRONK here on the nest and get a motorcraft for your rig. More horse power + better gas millage. and you get rid of about thirty pounds of hoses and other stuff in the proses it really cleans up the engine.
