We bought one of the new upgrade kits from Gronk.  The installation went really well.  We had several questions, which he answered for us.

A light tap with my slipjoint hammer released the spacer.  This is obviously a photo op.  We removed the spacer and then covered the intake.




Do as I say, not as I do.  This was a good time to check manifold bolts, but using a cheater wrench is a good way to lose something.

What next?  Photobucket won't generate the tag.  I had to stop and restart Photobucket.  I'm already having to

Finished except for one last spring, which was installed a few minutes ago but didn't pose for a picture in time to be included here.


One of the best things about this is being able to again drive using only foot, not having to worry about stallling at the lights.

This carb kit is great for areas that don't have a visual inspection.   Around here (So. Cal), all the emissions equipment must remain, and work.   It would be nice to be able to run one of these carbs here, but there is no way.  I guess I will just have to clean out my idle tubes again so it idles smooth.  I am happy with my fuel mileage, even with the poor idle. Jim, you are lucky to live in a place with no visual inspection.  We would like to see some MPG figures when you get it all working good.

This was a team effort .  Gronk supplied a good product and support, wonderEAGLE provided the heavy thinking and work in tight places, and I did  - well - I did the heavy lifting.

The kick down rod doesn't change from the Carter to the Motorcraft.  The Motorcraft comes with the down pull linkage already set to accept the factory down pull linkage "as is"

I did have another question about connecting some linkage.  Gronk answered it a few minutes ago and I think I connected it the way he said - finally.  I'll be out of town until 10/17 so I won't get a chance to drive it until then.

Great looking install Jim!!

I am very impressed with the whole setup gronk offers, his adapter plate is even better designed than the Mr. Gasket plate I got for my conversion.  Are those adapter plates availible for individual sale?

I designed them myself because I was fed up w/ Mr Gasket and TransDapt POS's.  I do sell them individually,, I also have a complete "carbless' kit.

Since the adapters are machined exactly for the included hardware, the 4 allan bolts come w/ the adapter too.

If you  want to swap an adapter for a floor console (auto transmission shifter cover w/ gauge pods) I'd be game.  I'll cover shipping both ways.

stupid question here, everyone is talking cold air intakes and what not, Might I add my two cents and offer 2 suggestions that might help? I have notice that many Tractors (IE Semi-trucks) have a side mount air intake area, And many of the new turbo diesel trucks are going that way too, Might I inquire why we couldn't build an intake system that had a splash guard in the side of the fenders that could also have a "Trap" door for water crossings or extreme weather conditions? 

the box would be something sorta like a muffler where one wall stops the water from getting drawn in or sucked in during splash (Going from the top down) then the second wall keeps the water from going into the intake tube if that much water does enter, and would have a spring trap door to let water out as using the weight of the water to open it at the bottom. and the cover "Could" be set up with a mesh screen to keep larger particles out, and removable to attach a full snorkle (IF that is your thing).

the second is Why not add 2 5 inch by 10 inch set of louvers set so the air in the engine compartment is drawn out as the air passes over the car
