Alaskan Eagle Hatchling
« on: September 07, 2011, 01:40:51 AM »
Hi All,

Im J, I live in Alaska and been here pretty much my whole life, and ever since i was 13 I wanted a Eagle, Fist Time i saw one i was out 4-wheeling out in the tundra and next thing i see is a Eagle Wagon with 35s hauling 3 caribou on top of it! wish i had a picture it was amazing! But that is when i fell in love.  8)

This past June was just driving to a buddy's house when my childhood dream was sitting at the end of a drive way with a for sale sign on it. So i could not resist, i stopped and talked to the owner, as it turns out he was just getting out of the Army and was getting on a plane and not coming back in 2 hours, so he said i tell you what if i dont get rid of this thing i have to pay the Borrow (its like a county but ALOT bigger)  $200, you just pay the cab ride for me and my family to the airport and its yours!

So i bought a Running 1982 Eagle Wagon Limited with the 258 in it for $75!!!  :occasion14:

I have put about $600 into her so far, new radiator, serviced the tranny, new vacuum lines, and filled all the gear boxes.

I Do have a couple problems i could use some help with though, the last owner took out the vacuum system for the 4x4 so it has a pull push cable instead, so for some reason the hubs are always "locked" a 4x4 vacuum system diagram would be awesome or if some one has dealt with this before some tips would be great.  :help:

Tranny shutters going into 1st and 2nd but only on acceleration, need a clutch pack maybe?

and other odds and ends like would like to buy these  :eaglebig: to put on there, mine are missing  :( need 3 new door handles... they are all snapped, i think some one tried to break in at one point, But other then that everything is awesome!

Ok i know all of you are dying to see a $75 Eagle so here she is!

J_Man697, i would just stay with the cable engagement system in the long run its much better then the vacuum system, you might see if you can improve the cable system.

Why can't a deal like this fall into my lap! Great find man and good luck with all it's quirks...the good news is you can spend more money fixing it up right since you didn't have to put much into it for the initial purchase. The car looks great. Depending on what it looks like underneath that was at least a 1-2,000 dollar wagon probably.

Nice deal on the Eagle.  Looks like mine did when I got it, but I paid a lot more than $75 for mine.  Good luck with it.
