Hey guys, new here and heres a small story.
« on: August 24, 2011, 01:36:19 PM »
Hey guys, my name is Colton. I found the site and I really like it. I've always loved the Eagle Wagon, it's always been one of my favorites when I was a kid. I don't currently own a Eagle, but I might here pretty soon I am hoping. I currently own a 1989 Chevy Caprice in mint condition, so I am trying to obtain a 1985 Eagle Wagon as my 'winter vehicle'. I'll tell you a small story about it.

I live in Pennsylvania and there is an old AMC car dealer about 20 minutes from my house near the Ohio River. I haven't had much luck finding an Eagle so the other day I took a small journey down to the dealer (which is now a garage) however they have AMC Javelins, Pacers, a 50's Ambassador you name it. It's an AMC gold mine. HOWEVER getting to the goods. In their garage, currently covered in dust with flat tires is a BEAUTIFUL 1985 (i believe) Eagle Wagon. It's Dark brown with wood grain. it looks show room. it has 44k miles on it and it's the garage owners mom's old car before she passed. So i went in and talked to the owner and he said "well yeah I have been wanting to put it for sale, but I just havent gotten around to it" so I told him there "here is my number, I want it" he is supposed to call me next week. He said I'll have it running before I sell it. I.E New battery, tuned, inspection, tires etc. all the good stuff. so hopefully i will be able to get this pretty girl. I mean, it is perfect and I usually make the most minor gripes when it comes to cars. So theres my story/intro. Look forward to talking to you all, I am also going to post a picture the Eagle Discovery section of a poor eagle at the same dealer who is rusting away and needs rescued and restored.

Welcome and congratulations on your find.   Looking forward to pictures.  We would like to see pictures of those other AMCs, too.

Thanks man. I am going to go back down there soon or when they give me a call. I quickly made friends with the owner and his son, so I don't think they would mind taking some pictures of the rarities they have. I posted a picture in the Eagle Sightings of the Eagle that is on the outside of the dealer rotting away :|

Do you think they would have a stach of NOS parts for AMC vehicles? Sounds like an interesting place. I also wonder if they want to sell off the other vehicles.

Thanks Eagleman and Rohnk I am not sure. They are a garage/used car dealer. I believe they are selling the Ambassador and there is another AMC in the old show room that I didn't identify from the 70's i think. I saw a javelin and an AMX in there too in the back. It looks as if a lot of the stuff from the old company is gone apart from some vehicles. I'll try and get some pictures if they are cool with it.

This place sounds similar (although on a smaller scale) to a certain location in North Carolina which is well known to the AMC community.

Here she is boys, I wasnt lying when I said this car was pristine.. They finally got it running from sitting, and I was extremely disappointed to see the want almost 10,000 Dollars for it...

I cant afford that, not even if I could sell BOTH of my cars for this one.

So maybe in case someone else wants her and is willing to travel to good ol' PA for it. Here is the listing.

The guy said he thought it had 44k...It has 150k.. He was a lot off, but here it is anyway

It looks like mine (but more pristine)

Its a beautiful car, but good god man....almost 10 grand for a car sporting 150,000+ miles is a bit steep. I aint gonna lie though if i had a bunch of extra cash I would probably still buy it in a heart beat just cuz it is in such nice shape.

I agree. When the guy told me, even though I think it is SUCH a nice car, even more beautiful in person, i just said "excuse me, are you kidding?" The car is in super nice shape, and the frame some how has no rust on it what-so-ever. but sadly,

If the car HAD 44,000 on it like he originally said, okay I can see that..that's a collector right there. But 10k is just way to much. I'm going to keep updated on it and see if 1. it sells, or 2. they dramatically drop the price. unfortunately now, the poor girl is sitting out in the rain and its going to start snowing here pretty soon.
