Eagle Road (Rhode) Trip- Sept 2-16 from So. Cal. to RI & then to Intl. Meet

So Rich, which way are you headed to Sean's? You may be coming right through here and we could grab a bite to eat or something. If you're going through the Chicago area up by Rochelle where 88 meets 39... I could use your services and repay you with hugs and beer... or beer and hugs... or you know - whatever works, lol!

I need to make a trip to Doug's before the Meet to pick up the goodie bags and signs. I also need to swing up to Rochelle and pick up some parts in the next day or two. They are both in opposite directions. If you're going through/near Chicago - would you be willing to make a quick stop for me? OR OR OR, you could just grab the goodie bags from Doug and then I could just wait and hit him up after the Meet for the signs. Either one would take a load off and really help out. It'd work out much better if you were swinging through Rochellle though (outside Chicago), because I've been promising to make it up to Dougs all summer and I really need to get my rear up there and clean out some space for him. But hey, either way - if you're able/willing to do either, I promise that I won't steal any parts off of your wagon when you arrive!

I can probably help here....i will be coming through Rochelle on my way to Normal. If Rich and I are going to meet there I can, as long as the parts in Rochelle can be delivered to me @ the petro truckstop. Or maybe I can meet up with Rich there..... Should be there wednesday evening.

Day 5:
I spent the night in a truck stop in Marshalltown Iowa next to a McDonald's (sorry no photo). On the way to Doug's, I spotted an Eagle on the other side of the road.  After an evasive maneuver, I crossed the center median and went back to take a photo:

I arrived at Doug's place:

He told me about the Eagle I saw, and that the guy has a few others as well (a Kamback).  Doug said the guy will not sell them, or join the Eaglenest.
I got to see the Eaglenest Headquarters (where all the hiring and firing is done):

Not sure where I am going next.  I have time to spare now that I am not going to visit my relatives.....Rich

Long about Thursday late, I should be somewhere around Des Moines or Davenport. Keep an eye out for an 88 brown woody wagon with Canadian plates. Should be ready to stop by then:) Mark

Nice visit this morning and early afternoon with rollguy (Rich).  He is headed East on his trek towards the Meet.  I did load him up with a few more items so I hope he has room enough to sleep.  I believe his plan is to go to Mavericke's today as his radiator is leaking.  It appears there is a crack in the upper hose fitting, so it may be repairable at some later date.  He may come back with Mav either before the meet or on his way back to load up the big dealership sign.  I have a purchaser for the used car sign so that will stay (the proceeds will go back into the Nest).  Of course, I forgot to take any pictures of our visit.  I think he got a couple while he was here.

Day 5 continued:
I had a nice visit with Doug today. On the trip to Mav's place, I drove by the Iowa 80 truck stop (photo later).  This is an awesome place! (been there before).  It is the largest truck stop on the planet, and is like a small city! 
I stopped at my favorite restaurant again (Cracker Barrel of course):

 Tomorrow I will be doing some work with Chas around here to get ready for the meet.  We will fix my radiator as well....Rich

Not much.  I think the cool weather helped to keep most of the coolant inside.  I did not need to run the A/C, so the temp gauge was in the middle of the green the whole time.

Day 6:
I woke up to a beautiful day and took a photo of the cars at Mav's:

We will be doing a few chores around here (one is fixing my radiator), and then I may be driving to Ohio. I may be going to see my aunt and uncle after all....Rich

Day 6 continued:
After helping Chas load a few things in his truck, I headed out to the interstate towards Ohio.  Entering Indiana:

I am at McDonald's in Indianapolis posting (no need for a photo, you all know what a McDonald's looks like LOL!)
I am headed to my relatives house near Ashland Ohio off I71.  I will probably sleep at a "Travel Center" tonight, and arrive at the relatives tomorrow morning.   On the way back, I am going to pick up some parts for Chas in Rochelle Illinois.  Then to the M.E.N.S. for the International Eagle Nest Meet.  Hope to see you all there (well, maybe some of you)....Rich

I decided to just drive and maybe have it fixed on the road.  We could not get it repaired in town till Thursday at the local radiator shop.   It has not leaked out much, as it has bee cool.

Are you leaving the rad cap loose?

No, it seems to do fine in cold weather.  There must be a leak only with high pressure in the cooling system from hot weather.
