There's others here who will answer with certainty but I don't think it will fit. Better wait until someone with more knowledge shows up before you scrap the idea completely.

Nope. The axle shafts are specific to the Eagle and don't interchange with any others.

But the entire '90 XJ Cherokee axle housing will bolt in to the Eagle. The spring perches are in the same locations as the Eagle. The shock absorber mounts are different, though. One side lines up perfectly with the Eagle's shock configuration, and one side is on the wrong side of the axle tube(can't recall which side). It could be cut off with a torch and welded back on in the correct position for the Eagle. Also, remember that the rear axle gear ratio must match the front axle ratio for a 4x4.

There both perched to the wrong side. However that axle is also a hair wider to. It will fit though.

No. You would have to perch it from top to bottom or more technically vice
versa.

Yeah, I don't know about the shock mounts but the springs would have to be mounted on top of the axle instead of underneath.

Yeah, I don't know about the shock mounts but the springs would have to be mounted on top of the axle instead of underneath.

Uuummmm...... Aren't they like that already? ??? That's pretty much standard, I've never heard of, let alone seen leaf spring mounted under the axle. Any pics of said setup?

AMC simply moved the springs to the top of the rear axle on the Spirit and Concord models when they were designing the Eagles. This gave them their lift. Then they decided to add the trim to fill in the wheel wells. I'll look for a picture of the rear suspension of a Spirit or Concord to show you.

I can't seem to find any pictures.
Can someone with a Concord or Spirit please take a pic of the rear axle where the springs are mounted?

No, the Jeep axle shaft will not fit in the Eagle housing. Put up a wanted ad for an axle shaft. They are the same for both sides.
