Create a flush look painted bumper

These cars are all beautiful but that doesnt mean that they cant use a little face lift. one pet peev is the somewhat unfinished look or the steel bumbers. Im planning on using fiberglass and cheese cloth to build the bumpers up, to give it a fraction of an inch rise that will blend into the bumper caps giving it a one piece piece bumper look

I'm no sure if it was a typo of even particularly relevant(what I'm going to say, not what you said). But the bumpers on our eagles are aluminum, not steel.

Aluminum that is  ....I have had this image in my head of the bumper made flush and painted  so it blends with the endcaps and gives a more flowing body line on the front and rear.....This is one of those random Ideas that popped into my head after seeing a similar thing done on an older ford escort on some custom car sight.....It might turn out terrible so Im certainly not going to try it on Ginger....Ill try it on a junkyard bumper first.

I got a ton of fiberglass stuff left from when I was going to restore an old vette I had, I think im gonna give it a shot if I ever get some free time.

i believe mavericke did something very simular to what you are doing on his orange sx/4.   i never got a chance to see the car before the accident but if you send him a message here on the nest he may still have some pictures of it in it's full glory

Ill have to drop him a line....My motivation behind this project is....when you look at an Eagle from the sides the fender trim, side trim and endcaps flow together so nicely...when you look at the front the flowing just kinda stops at either end of the bumper.

I think mavericke's car had the bumper removed all together though. Or at very least pushed back so the grille was flush with were he had the bumper.

I wish I could get my hands on an AMX front end with that cool spoiler  that kinda flowed from the fender flares..Im not holding my breath on finding one of those though. Im gonna play with this a bit and see what I come up with...If I ever get some free time that is....The closest thing ive had to working on my car lately is daydreaming about it at work.

Shane, I know where there is an AMX like this in Wheat Ridge.  But I think the owner might get a little upset if you showed up with your tools and started tearing off the front end.   

He still uses it as his summer daily driver, he has an SX-4 to drive in the winter.

Id probably have better luck swiping parts off bikes in front of a hells angels club house than I would getting his front end...LOL....AMC guys are pretty serious about their cars.
