starter solenoid question

i replaced my starter solenoid and the original had a little prong on the bottom of it and the new one don't. my question is what is it for and is it important.

It was foor the neutral start. Now you can start in all gears. Basically you have one for a manual eagle.

that is not a good thing then i have a bad habit of not getting the car all the way into gear as the linkage needs a slight adjustment. now to just remember to adjust it. oh and thanks mudkicker.

I suggest getting the correct one then.  They should have asked you when you bought it if which transmission you have.

yeah they never did ask and to make matters worse they know me by name and me them.
