90 degree speedometer cable adapter?

Anyone know of where I might be able to find a 90 degree speedometer cable adapter? My second speedometer cable broke tonight, leaving me without a vss, meaning the car stalls in traffic while rolling every time I pull out of gear into neutral (manual trans). That gets irritating in a hurry. I've seen the ones made for the screw in style transfer case openings, but our t-cases, and the NP249 I have, do not have the threaded orifice. Converting to an electric speedometer is way too costly for me at the moment. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Tougeagle, there's (at least there was) an outfit in Denver called DeLuxe Speedometer. They used to be on Speer Blvd. near Bannock, in an old odd-shaped brick garage. They moved out behind the Sapp Brothers truck stop off I-70 & Quebec several years ago. They are (if they still exist) quite pricey but they are masters of the cable-driven speedometer and all things dashboard instrumentation. If they're still around they will set you right up. They at least used to get quite a bit of their trade on antique and classic cars whose speedometers and gauges needed restoration.

No can do on the whole pricey thing :( Thanks for the suggestion though.. in the future when I have decent money I may check them out for some custom work... I think I've got it figured out though. The Dodge Dakota speed sensor I have screwed into a housing that fits in the same hole that we have in our t-cases, (interchangeable with jeep tcases) on which there is a shaft with the speedo gear. I need to pick up one of those, and a dakota speedometer cable housing, with the two threaded ends. That way I can pick up a universal GM/Jeep 90 degree adapter and problem solved.... If/when I can get it done, I'll post a writeup. Gotta get it done soon though, tired of havig to turn the car on again every time I go into neutral :(

Okay, so since I know now that all the parts I'd like to use are obtainable, here's the deal... I will use a universal cable with the 7/8" sending unit side, 5/8" speedo side, at least 81" long. One side will attach to the VSS attached to my speedometer (vss threading is 5/8 and I have yet to find a speedo cable 5/8"x5/8" ends), and the other end will attach to the 90 degree adapter at the transfer case. The 90 degree adapter will attach to a Dodge cable driven long shaft speedometer gear housing at the transfer case,  with proper gear, thusly eliminating cable breakage. Once I actually have the 100 bucks to spend on this, I'll make a writeup of it  and edit my EFI writeup accordingly...My bird hates it when I cut corners, and she never fails to let me know....

From what I remember seeing in other posts the speedometer orifice faces up quite a bit more. I think it also uses a screw on type fitting, but I dunno. I do know there are some writeups on it though....

It's easier to split the 229 case and drill and tap it to reclock the tail shaft housing. That's what I did. I tried using the back half of my 128 on the 229 but the hole for the rod that the low range is connected to, was too small.
