EAGLER

the tick tick sound is because the oil pressure is too low, the oil pump must be replaced before something else get damaged, time to remove the oil pan ;)
because nobody grows up knowing all

JayRamb

I replaced my timing chain to steel.  My tick tick went away.  My oil pressure is around 40 to 50 PSI.

Update 10/22/10.

Brought the car home from my school yesterday.  Does not run very well at all... Sputters and refuses to stay running at times.  Also gave it a wash, I was getting sick of the dirt and gunk everywhere! lol

I will post updated pictures soon.  :)

Was it messed with while it was at school?
I don't believe so, but it just seemed to do that only after I changed the oil  ??? ???

Yesterday, I replaced the carb from my dad's old Eagle that we had to park last year due to it being rusty  :(   But anyways, the carb was almost a fresh overhaul and the old carb on my car looked real bad.  When taking off all of the hoses and stuff, I noticed a lot of hoses that didn't go anywhere and some that were really broken up and dry rotted.  I ended up replacing a lot of hoses and putting in a lot of new ones.  (Thank god for my white Eagle as a guide...)

So I started it up last night after the carb was put on and the hoses replaced, and it ran better...MUCH better.  It still has the hiccups every now and then but stays running.  But the choke isnt working right, as it stays in fast idle all of the time.  But that will be dealt with soon.

Found the reason for the fast idle being stuck on, the wire for the choke was never put on after we changed the carb  ::)  ;D  Well after we put that on, I thought the timing should be addressed.  And sure enough, the timing was about 7 degrees off and messing up the vacuum advance.  Now she purrs like a kitten! But there still is a bunch to do yet... all of the belts are junk, some hoses are still junk, the gas guage doesn't work, and the steering is absolutely terrible (hard to control on the road, lots of play). But its coming along  :)

Now it's time to give the car a REAL good clean up (inside and out) that it most desperately needs!  ;D I mean, the interior has mold growing on the seats and door panels! Gross.  :P

Just an update on the Wagon.  It is fully functional now and now being driven as my daily driver.  A lot of time, $$, and effort were put into it and it came out great.  Been real busy lately and havent had much time to sit down and write about it.  I'll post some pictures of it real soon here of how it turned out.

Just read the post. Glad you were able to rescue an Eagle. Sounds like you had quite a time getting it to run properly. Gald it is going so good for you that you are able to use it as a daily dirver.
