That's really too bad... I really wanted to have an 80 model.. I don't care which model... just wanted one of the first Eagles.
I really had my hopes up on this one.. but the good news is that now I know my limits and exactly what to look for when buying an Eagle with potential rust issues. I had a pretty good idea, but I never looked this one over too well - it was free, lol!
Now I know... and from the looks of it, the good news is that the two wagons in the back are prime candidates for restoration. The Limited is at the very least. We have her out in front of the garage... still stripping parts from the 80 right now. Most of the interior is out... all the trim is off. The really cool roof rack is off. The sad news is that after doing all of this... I now know that my Brown Eagle... the "Millenium Eagle" is beyond repair unless I weld in a completely new frame.... which is exactly what I will do. That was my first car - I'll never get rid of her.
Hey, at the very least... I got a really good 1980 engine out of the whole ordeal with the original metal valve cover. I just wish the White Castle trip had a little bit better ending is all.
I'll keep you all posted. I'm taking plenty of pics.
