Hey I bet you got your 86 sport from my buddy!~ If so I did lots of work on that thing and have some of its parts in my shed.  You need to give that front end some Sirius attention!!!
look familiar? These are the wheels he got it with, he sold you mine!

Anyway I am out on the coast, let me know if you need help Ive been in and under your rig. The carter carb I put on your motor was recently rebuilt but i would recommend getting a motorcraft from Gronk here on the nest.
Good luck with that old bird!

What a nasty stripe delete. It looks naked without the small graphics. :/

.......

N Portland picking yard: 81 Eagle that has been there for 10 days. I'd go out and vulture it but you PDX guys probably need the parts more than I do. I'm doing a tan-velvet interior swap from the Concord out in Lakewood. The S Portland picking yard has a 75 Hornet that might be of some use to you as well. No word on whether any of them are worth saving though. I'll be sure to snap some photos if I go out there this weekend. It'll be fun to zip past all the little 2WD cars in this snow. :)

Tanks for the heads up!!egg!
peter s -your 86 has the dreaded NP128 open dif T-case system. When we took it out on the beach it buried the passenger side front and back up to the axles. I pulled it out no problem with my 85 which has the NP129 viscous coupling. You mite want the T-case out of the 81 it is probably the NP119 full time 4x4 viscous coupling T-case.

To get the transfer case you need a couple good jacks and a good set of sockets and wrenches. It is a project for sure but totally doable. I think i remember reading that the new starters will chew up your flywheel if you don't swap the gear over from the old one, the teeth are cut at a slightly different angle, I would go pull the starter off that 81 in the yard. Replacing a flywheel is a big job. Having custom leaf springs made is expensive, I think all you need to do is go find an  80's cherokee pull the leaf springs off of it then swap out the bushings. get some spacers for the front. If you try to lift it two inches in the front you will max out your half shafts. But remember an Eagles lower center of gravity gives it a big advantage over most 4x4 rigs. I think 31 inch tires is plenty big, I run 28.5s on my Eagle. I have the fender flares and the old carter carb off your rig. Ever get the back hatch open? I am with you on the plastic trim, just more to lose on the trail.

A BIG piece of advice---- before you let any body mechanic or not work on your eagle do the research hear on the nest !!!! I recommend doing the work yourself, if you feel confident. All of the info is hear on the nest ask a question and it will be answered by seasoned Eagle mechanics!

Here is a shot of my motor with the motorcraft 2150 carb and other mods. I recommend you get in touch with GRONK here on the nest and get a motorcraft for your rig. More horse power + better gas millage. and you get rid of about thirty pounds of hoses and other stuff in the proses it really cleans up the engine.

Here is a link to GRONK's ad here on  the nest.http://forums.amceaglenest.com/index.php?topic=37113.0
I got my valve cover in a kit from The Parts Pros for about $75, it came with gaskets, bolts and new rocker bridges. You will have to drill and tap your head for the valve cover bolts. I broke a tap off in mine, boy was that fun to get out!
