As soon as all the planets align, Virginia is going up on the lift and getting the flex plate replaced. While it's apart I want to replace the trans mount (4.2 auto). I read on here that the mount for the manual trans works, and the studs just need to be ground off to be compatible with the automatic transmission.
I can't see the transmission mount that's on my car very well right now, because of the transfer case blocking my view and not being able to get under the ground without ending up covered in mud... But upon my inspection the one on the car looks identical to the one I just picked up at Advance, it looks like the 4 studs on it are the only way to mount it to the crossmember. What am I missing here, what do I need to grind off? I want to do the prep work ahead of time so things go as quickly and smoothly as possible when we finally get started with the repair. So what am I not seeing/why doesn't this make sense to me? Thanks.
